I just had a baby 4 months ago, I am 27 and I too experienced a few gray hairs during pregnancy. Now that my hormones seem to be going back to normal, I've seen even more gray hairs. I think this is normal, until hormones have actually gone back to their original stage, I think that gray hair is normal. Plus it comes on with stress too sometimes, so that may be why we are seeing some. I just yank them out if I see one.

It could be lack of copper. Check your prenatal and see if it contains enough copper, you don't need a ton, usually 3 mg a day will do it.
Your body sucks up the copper when you are pregnant to help absorb the extra iron you are taking. The thing is melanin also needs copper to give your hair and skin it's pigment. So, if your body is using all it's copper to go to the iron, it can cause the lack of pigment in your hair.

Yes. During pregnancy, I too had a few strands to lose pigmentation. I was 19. I just pulled them from the roots. I did not see them again. Now I am 37 and they are starting to appear here and there.

sounds like it is hereditary to me.
a lot of people with naturally dark hair will notice they start going gray faster than their contemporaries with lighter hair. the simple answer to that is that you are not going grayer any faster than others, it is just due to your natural hair color it is going to show up more than on someone with lighter hair.

that is a good point you made about nutrition. as you may know, hair is made up of calcium. If it appears to be 'dying' I would guess you are not getting enough calcium. You find calcium in milk products. Speak to your midwife about it and also any suppliments you can take for it during pregnancy.

Sounds like it's hereditary to me. No graying happened to me while I was pregnant. My hair actually became more lush due to the prenatal vitamins I presumed...
Some people get grey in their early twenties, like my mom, her brother and my husband's aunt...
Don't worry about it, that's what they have hair colors for... :-)
enjoy your babies...
