My great grandmother was full blooded cherokee and I have had genetic testing performed to verify my % native american heritage. I now want to contact a cherokee tribe to register and receive my native american "card" so I can register with SBA. I do not know how to contact the tribe and cannot find a link?

Yeah, its not that easy.

First you gotta make sure shes on the Rolls, then figure out where she's from. There is NO Cherokee tribe in TN-we are based out of OK and NC, only!

Go to www.cherokee.org. Good luck!

you may run into problems registering with SBA since most of the natives who receive benefits had full blooded ancestors who were put on the rolls, decades ago. there are many full blooded natives who to this day don't receive benefits due to the fact that great grandma and great grandpa didn't enroll because of fear of the government. but if you want to try this out, try contacting the cherokee nation. they have a headquarters in oklahoma. they might be able to help you out there, maybe even be able to help you trace back to tennessee. good luck to you!

There is a large Cherokee tribe in Cherokee, North Caroline, which is directly on the other side of the mountains when you are coming out of Tennessee. They should be able to help you. It's a tourist destination, so you should be able to find addressess and stuff on yahoo.
