When my dad would get them he woudl put clear nair polish over the effected areas. I guess it suffocates the chiggers and they die.

get "Chiggerex" it can be bought over the counter at most Wal-mart stores. It really works well. My wife gets eaten alive by chiggers every year when we go to South Texas.
Another good way to get rid of chiggers is to go swimming in salt water in one of the oceans of the world. That is what a doctor told me about 60 yrs ago...He was right because the chiggers were very soon gone. I was in the Gulf of Mexico.

It is now known that chiggers do not get under the skin. They bite you and leaves something in the skin( i cant remember), but it makes you itch . But any way, rubbing alcohol works best for me. But i scratch the spot it bit until it bleeds an apply it. This helps get the poison out and the alcohol dries it up and helps it heal faster. I hope this helps...

Pinelake302 said what I was going to say. It is really good and I'd get it. It costs like 2 bucks or so, not more then 3. I think we gave $2.12, but I know it's not very expensive.
