As with ALL countries, there are good and bad!Tarring ALL English people rude and racist is wrong.Could it just be that because of different cultures, language, and so forth, that others misunderstand? When so many different nationalities get together misunderstandings will, and do occur. If English people are racist, why then is our country multi-national? Most of us live together in harmony with our neighbours whatever colour, race, religion.Yes, there are troubled area's,but you would get that ANYWHERE. I am English,I've tried to respond to your remarks positively so I hope you now realise that not all of us are the same.

Calling someone stupid isn't racist, since racism, by definition means a slur against ones race or colour - not ones intelligence.
So he was obviously right - you are stupid if you don't know the difference (and so is anyone on this thread who agreed with you, since they also clearly don't know the difference).
However, your question itself was racist since you made a generalisation about the entire population of one country. So in fact, you are the racist, not him.
Clearer now?

You make a blanket statement that tars everyone with the same brush.
If you have had bad times with the English, that's one thing, but to condemn an entire nation on the actions of a few is both unfair and ignorant. I am surprised that you haven't been called worse.

Because the way you asked the question makes you sound like the rude and racist one.

When you say something negative about someone, it's natural that they will get defensive. Calling them as a group "rude and racist" is an unfair statement.

Call it honest and straight foreward.
Saying what is on your mind is one mans rudeness and the other mans road to heaven.
