Why is this Happening?

It will continue to happen until 'OUR' kids stop getting their sex education from:-

Their peers:
Trial & error:
The latest teen mag:
Tv/dvd/movie:
Hip-Hop & R&B music:
Etc, etc, etc.

& Start getting it from those they should>>> 'THEIR PARENTS'!!!

Parents blame & leave it to schools, schools blame & leave it to Parents, government blame & leave it to both... Kids blame everyone but themselves: & leave it to a 3 minute, usually drunken fumble in the local park!!

When will someone take responsibility... stop being the child’s 'Best Friend'... And start being a PARENT!!

Kids will always experiment: always have the attitudes: ‘It won’t happen to me’: ‘I will be okay’!! ‘I won’t get caught’: and will continue to do so until they do!! No matter how much education you give them about ‘The Birds & The Bee’s’: they will always think they know more & better!!

BUT: that does not mean they should not be told!!

At the end of the day it is ‘THE PARENTS’ responsibility to teach a child: right from wrong: good from evil: respect for themselves & others: good morals: not to steal: not to take drugs, etc, etc:

&

‘WHERE BABIES COME FROM:
HOW:
THE CONCEQUENCES OF UNPROTECTED SEX:
AND THE DANGERS ’!!

Why the Hell are we leaving it to ‘Strangers’ to teach ‘OUR’ kids, these such important lessons… and blaming them when all goes **** side up: when we only have ourselves to blame??

All ‘Teachers’ should be doing is backing up & confirming the ‘Biology’ behind what we ‘Ourselves’ have already explained & taught them: years before!!

You can’t blame society, or the education system for the failure of sex education: when the education should be happening at HOME!!

I very much agree with you. We should be teaching children from a young age that:

You CAN get pregnant - the first time, standing up, he uses his hand and it has semen on it, using the withdrawal technique, using the so called rhythm method, when you are drunk, when the moon is/isn't full etc etc etc, whatever ridiculous things they believe.
It is OK and PREFERABLE to ABSTAIN from sex until you are mature and in a stable loving relationship.
A child IS NOT a way to get some love in to your life.

Sorry for all the 'shouting', but I feel so strongly about this. It is a tragedy that children don't have the knowledge and self respect to avoid getting themselves into these situations. Also, unpopular a view as it might be, I think a bit of shame attached to teenage pregnancy was not a bad thing - nowadays these kids seem almost proud that they are bringing a baby in to the world when they are just kids themselves and can't support it - enter the welfare state.

We really need to address this in this country - we are going badly wrong somewhere.

Well, the kid knew that she was taking the risk when they had the fun. The problem isn't in teaching kids about sex, it's a morals issue. Even beyond that, it's a supervision issue. More and more parents aren't letting their kids date until they're 18, and I'm beginning to think that's not a bad thing. They let them go on group outings, with parental supervision, but not just two of them alone.

A major shake up is needed. Some kids know what will happen and get pregnant for a house, some hear too many myths and makes too many mistakes and then there are parents who don't know how to handle their children like the CHILD who became PREGNANT at ELEVEN YEARS OLD in the UK. Social services-HELLO!!

I agree, there are many kids that never intend to follow an academic career but stil our school system doesn't value manual or practical skills.
Kids need to learn all kinds of things to be independant and self sufficient. Money management, cooking, basic car mechanics, there are loads of things they could be studying that would be of genuine use to them after they leave school.
Its just no good saying leave it to the parents, some parents dont have any parenting skills.

Part of the problem is that single teenage Mums get free housing and benefits, many of them se it as an easy way out! Some of them may not get the education they need in this area or just don't listen.

I agree but most of the kids that are faced with this situation bunk off school so will never get to see a sex ed film in school.

I know! They explain what happens; but never how to prevent it. Schools just need to more open about the amount of sex happening, and aim to prevent pregnancies not threaten they can occur.Parents need to be open with there kids too, but the more resources avaliable the better. Dont judge, just help.

...and where are the parents? It is ultimately the parents responsibility to teach sex ed.

...if the kids are too stupid to know how to not get pregnant, then they are clearly too stupid to have sex.

...and if her life is ruined, now who's fault is that??? Hers His and their parents.
