There is no one brand. Every brand has items that they make that may rock or may not depending on what you like. For a lot of things, I like Covergirl or Maybelline. For mascara, I just have to have Lancome. For skin stuff, like foundation, concealer, and powder, I prefer Revlon. I've actually gotten some good liquid liner and lipstick from Wet N Wild, so go figure. Just try stuff out and see what you like best.

Depends on your budget

Budget crunch - Revlon or Cover Girl

Average - MAC or Sasha

High End - Dior or Estee Lauder

**NOTE** I swear by Estee Lauder. I would never, ever use anything else. It maybe a little pricey to buy but my makeup lasts so much longer than the drugstore type that, in the end, it all turns out to be the same. Instead of having to buy every 4-5 months, I usually buy my itmes every 8 months or so. I also have sensitive skin and eyes and have never, ever had a problem with reactions. I would never switch to anything else from Estee Lauder.

I am absolutely in love with Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Dior. I think the way they blend their colors is very beautiful, and their products just feel completely different from that of other brands. Of course this is generally speaking because there are some areas that I use specific brands (for example, mascara and eyes I swear by Shiseido, while foundation and makeup remover Shu Uemura is your best bet). But on the whole, YSL and Dior have come out with the best makeup. Definitely on the pricier end, but for stuff that goes on your face, I think it's worth it to invest in high-quality makeup.

Estee Lauder is the one I use. It's the best but Revlon and Covergirl isn't bad is what I've heard but I haven't had a budget problem for me to use those and let's hope that I won't have to either. I have heard the more expensive the makeup is the better the quality is. But it's your choice though. I recommend Estee Lauder all the way.

I have used Cover Girl Continuous Wear foundation for 10 years. I've tried a lot of other stuff and always end up going back to it. It stays on well and covers well and looks pretty natural. Everything else I experiment with. My favorite mascara is Maybelline, any of them, and lipstick, I actually LOVE a dollar-store lipstick called L.A. Colors.

i will go over some good brands. drugstore makeup is not mentioned here because it is NOT GOOD. it's very bad for your skin. department store makeup is pricey, but so worth it.

mac is great for going out, but can look very heavy in the day.
estee lauder is good, maybe for the older crowd
lancome is also good, and tom ford is doing an amazing line for them
trish mcevoy is awsome, they have nice "planners" as a way to store makeup
bobbi brown is amazing for women of all ages, totally natural looking and beautiful. she does the best concealers.
chanel is also very good but pricier than the rest.
geurlain has amazing bronzers ans the "kisskiss" lipstick is awsome.
vincent longo has nice lipstains.
stila is preciuos and has very good eyeshadows and cute pallets to hold them in.
prescriptives is good, you can custom create your own lipgloss and foundation..very fun to do
dior has the cutest speciality ideams
bare essentials has awsome foundation, and is so pure you can sleep in it.

just get your basics at first: a good foundation, concealer, blush, bronzer, and mascara. also invest in brushes (i really like trish mcevoy brushes, they are made from real rabbit fur and very soft) good qualilty brushes last forever, i've had mine for 7 years. just wash them and keep them in good condition.

If you have a tight budget get NYC. It's cheap and an OK brand. Not a tight budget? Mary Kay is the best!!!

MARK IS THE BEST MAKEUP OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!! It has good quality, is much cheaper than MAC, and has a wide variety of accessories and makeup, as well as perfumes and lotion.
