Well I got my A+ certification. The best recommendation i can give you is to really read the material. A couple books i would recommend is A+ guide to managing and maintaining your pc by Jean Andrews and Exam cram 2 by ed tittel. An update for the A+ is coming up, so take the test asap before new things come on the test go to www.comptia.org to read up on the latest news on all tests.Hope this helps. Yes, it pays to have an A+ cert. I would also read up on linux systems as well. I am preparing to take my Network + class. Good luck.

I think the tremendous REDUCTION in facilities offering MCSE training gives a bit of a warning. (Before all that Y2K stuff, there were loads of them offering training, now only a few, and some of them go out of business before allowing their students to complete their training... There just isn't the demand for it any more, because there is already a HUGE population of qualified engineers WITH years of experience already chasing work and business models demand IT OUTSOURCING which sends a pretty huge proportion of that work to countries with a lower unit labour cost. You're better off picking a career where you can't work remotely from the client, like healthcare, unless you are in one of those low unit labour cost countries.

Honestly, if you're going to do a brain dump for one of the most basic and easy to pass exams out there you should stop now and consider a career elsewhere. You certainly won't do well in a CCNA or TISCA exam which will open doors to making reasonable money early in your career.

There's a reason why you should know this stuff; people are paying you and expect that you do.

In my experience? A+ might get you desktop support. Maybe.

MCSE....eh. I was never to impressed with MCSE's that I've met.

In the end, certifications cannot make up for experience. The market isn't too bad, but if you don't have practical experience, expect to start at the bottom of the totem pole. (i.e. - phone support, walking to people's cubes to fix printers and show people how to turn their monitor on when it goes into stand-by, etc.)

Try working for your grade rather than looking for the easy cheat.
No wonder the qualifications have gone to the dogs in the UK.
