Bill Clinton is the best president of the past 30 years. His economic policy (Rubinomics), according to many, contributed to the 90s boom, while his initiative to put more cops on the street reduced crime (even the person who wrote the article claiming abortion caused the fall attributed some of the fall in the crime rate to Clinton's COPS program). Unemployment and inflation were both low. Clinton's moral failings were unfortunate, but it is so rare that an intelligent, charismatic president comes into power whose policies generally help America and who posesses a moral sense of purpose that is admired and envied that we must accept the limitations of our "better" presidents. I admire Ronald Reagan, and certainly his foreign policy was visionary. However, his domestic policy left a bitter taste in my mouth, as his foreign policy meant that many sacrifices needed to be made domestically. He is a great president, but not the best president we have had.

Reagan. There are really a lot of people that dont/cant recognize the huge role he played in bringing down Communism. It all really goes back to his "Star Wars" initiative. Announcing that we were developing satellites that could shoot down nukes changed the whole balance of power in the Cold War. Suddenly the Russians had to spend billions and billions to "catch up". They spent so much trying to catch up, that it bankrupted them, causing the failure of most of their social programs, and bringing down the government. And now that the dust has cleared- what was Star Wars here in the US? Very close to nothing- Reagan and everyone involved with it knew that the technology to develop satellites that could do that was many years away. The whole thing was a huge trick that the Russians fell for. And thanks to that, kids dont have to practice Nuclear attack simulations in elementary schools anymore. Thank you President Reagan!
