It depends on what it is you're not telling. Sometimes by ommitting a fact, it's just as bad as lying. If I didn't tell you I cheated on you, that's just as bas as lying, because I'm allowing you to continue believing the now-false underlying assumption that I didn't cheat. On the other hand, if I didn't tell you that I went to the store today, that doesn't really matter.

have you ever heard the term, 'sin of omission'?
this is keeping quiet so the truth isn't revealed....aka passive lying.
so yeah, not telling a secret is lying, provided its something that needs to be told.
you just don't go around telling everything you know so you don't get accused of lying, but if you're in a situation where you know the answer or somehting that would clarify things, then not telling is a lie as much as actually saying fraudulent things

Hi Zoe
Sometimes not telling is actually lying! I mean imagine finding out that your best friend's fiance is seeing someone else behind her back, then she tells you how much they're in love and you don't tell her (You don't want to hurt her) ... Isn't that a form of lying as well?

Nope I don't at all, it's all the same it's all deceit. "What he doesn't know won't hurt him" heard the saying? Well it's so untrue cause it does hurt whether he knows or not. The truth always comes out in the end. And lying can turn into a vicious circle, one can lead to one and then another to cover up that one and then another and can never stop.

Actually, not telling is worse. Not telling is deception in its highest form. A lie is deception in regards not telling the truth even when you know what the truth is. Not telling the truth is deception with the denial of the truth to all parties, including yourself.

depends.... it's not wise to tell everything.....and if someone directly asks you something and you don't tell, then it's a lie, unless you weasle your way out of it and say something like ' I can not say'... this is not lying, but it is not revealing something you know.... but outright not saying the truth... yeah, thats lying.... and hiding something that needs to be known..... thats kinda lying too!

Yes.
If you know something and keep it secret, you might as well be lying about it.
