hey space cowboy,
have you ever ridden a horse, in an english saddle?!
any saddle is challenging, but on a horse you're constantly holding on with your legs. a rider's legs are as strong if not stronger than any runners legs. plus riding is probably the best core workout you could find.
the riding part doesn't do much for the upper body, but i would guess that all that swinging the stick does.
the rich play polo because they are the only ones that can afford to do it....the equipment is expensive - horse. its like flying a plane, you don't see poor people doing that a lot either, the equipment is expensive - air plane.

The rich can play whatever they want. But I can't afford a horse to play polo. So - instead of me - you'll see rich playing polo.
("The modern sport has had difficulty grappling with the traditional social and economic exclusivity associated with a game that is inevitably expensive when played at a serious level.")

Rich people are usually skinny, and weak..so basically, they can't run that fast, and dont have much power, and strength...so they let the horses do the job for them!

I guess others would play it as well if it wasnt that expensive. You need a horse, the equiptment and a good doctor if you fall on your azz.
