Dear Mallori Manson - I have gone through replies given by nice persons. These were verygood - but I liked your final drafting which was as under:

Dear......

I am a 14 year old honor roll student who loves animals. Is it possible that you have an available position for the summer that could extend during the school semester? I would be willing to work around my school responsibilities.
Thank you for your kind consideration,

Sincerely......

Dear AAH,

I am a 14-year old Honors student at Washougal High School. I think i would like to pursue a career in veterinary services, but need an opportunity to check this out.

Is there an job opening there for a person who is bright and energetic and will to learn? I would be able to work [insert times that you are willing to work], if that is amenable to you.

If possible, I'd like to come down so we could have a face-to-face discussion on this. Thank you for your time and consideration and i hope to hear from you shortly.

(Do keep in mind that at 14, you may not be legally allowed to work. best of luck to you anyway)

During the summer break, I am available at any time, and I would be willing to work for you on a trial basis, without pay, for a week. Please consider my request seriously, and call me so I can come "try out" for the job.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely yours,

You can give them the hours you are available... if you can't get a job there, you may want to walk dogs for people around your neighborhood.

Also, you need your working papers from school...

you forgot a coma after available!

Another possibility to end the letter:

If you need further information about me, then do not hesitate to ask under (tel. or e-mail).

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely

Forget the letter. Apply in person. If they are not hiring now, ask to leave an application, then go back and ask again in a month or so.
