Because that's what's truly inside their hearts.
From the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. So you can tell what a person is really like by the language they use when under pain or pressure.
Anybody can be polite when there's nothing negative happening, but our words truly do expose what we're truly like inside.

'Cause they choose not to refrain. Swearing is a habit, as is not swearing. Once one is chosen, you have to work to change the habit. Social norms will make it easier to break one habit. However, I'm sure many have found that they have no problem swearing around friends, and yet no swears seem to come out with parents and grandparents around. The environment no longer welcomes the language and you'll choose not to use it unless the habit has become so strong that even then you can't stop yourself.

i think when a person is angry, their true demon comes out and speak what they really really want to say and did not... so when they are angry, abc ALL came out!
but when you grow older and have kids, you will refrain from it because you don't want you kids to be using it...... well... for at least a couple of years only...till they learn it somewhere else...

I would have to agree with the person above, it does usually have something to do with the person's vocabulary.
Or, it could be the way they were raised. My husband says that his father would cuss in sentences. So when my husband is angry he occasionally sounds like his father.
Good Question!

because sometimes when you are very angry, they just come spilling out because you don't take the time to think of a more appropriate word. they are easy because they are always in the back of your mind somewhere and require absolutely no thought whatsoever.

I'm not even going to sit back and say that I don't curse when I'm mad, but I wish I didn't. I think it's something in your mind...we watch it on TV and movies and it become inbedded in our brains, so when we become angry it comes out almost involunatarily. It's like they say "what goes in must come out".

Sadly the answer is simple intellectual laziness, it's easier to curse or cuss than it is to offer a thoughtful response.

Some things are better said with a colorful metaphor.
And also limited vocabulary skills.

It's all about culture and language. In some cultures, there's no real such thing as a cuss word.
