is it better to have premarital sex?

As public policy, premarital sex degenerates a society, longevity of marriages, prognosis for kids, and a person's self-esteem (teen suicides) and other quality of life issues (disease, gossip). Pre-marital sex is like playing with a loaded gun, it ultimately harms the shooter as well as the person being shot (pun intended).

First, sex has a lot attached to it; emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Sex with multiple people can deaden some of the attachments making it a dangerous proposition, not even considering the many STD's that could make it a bad move (many people are passing STD's without even knowing it). Second, consider the relationship that is marriage. Marriage can be as simple as a binding contract between two individuals (not really special sounding there) or it can be the union of two individuals into a single state of being in which both spouses become something greater in the merging. By having premarital sex, you're lessening the value of marriage itself. I personally have chosen to wait and keep marriage a sacred sacrament.

I was just chatting with someone about this. You will get very varied answers but I am definitely PRO premarital sex.

Why? I had sex when I was 17 for the first time. I don't regret it and I wound up marrying the same man. We're still happily married to this day.

HOWEVER, because we both had limited sexual experience with other people and married young, we felt like we were missing out on "sowing our wild oats" We were very curious about sex with other people and so, we had an open marriage for about a year. We really wished we had more experience with other people prior to marriage.

We no longer have an open marriage and are still very happy but we really felt like we should have had more experience prior to settlin down.

How could it be better. Why is everyone so against saving that up for the one special person you are committed to and spending your life with. Sex is just turned into this cheap unmeaningful thing. Everyone says they want true love but they are too impatient to wait for it and they make it impossible to ever have it because by the time they have found it they have nothing to give but second hand goods.

Whatever both parties involved feel is right. In one party wants to wait, and the other wants to have it NOW, then they should probably avoid it, or at least sit down and talk about it. If both parties say "**** yes, let's do it NOW," Then go for it. If both parties say "Let's wait," Then that's easy enough.

As long as two people are consenting and mature, there's nothing wrong with sex before marriage. In fact, there's nothing wrong with sex even if they never get married.

Pro. Why would you want to spend a lifetime with someone that doesn't know what they're doing?
