Actually it was more than an excuse it was internally designed for that purpose and more. The world is not controlled by who you see but who/what you don't see, and they have been manipulatiing humans for ever. The goal is to consolidate all countries into one world government and control all people and abolish what little rights and freedoms you think you may have (Patriot Act) they fear you into giving away your rights. The use of fear and manipulating one human group against another works wonders for their agenda. Divide and conquer. They devised a way to get americans to hate the middle east in order to create an excuse to go and use the fake democracy to take over that region. It's not really about oil and money it's about power control and world dominance. All wars have been manipulated from one source feeding both sides. Humans have been played like chess pieces by a handful of elite goons, but its all part of the experience/game.
