My daughter worked for a prominent tattooist for several years. Because of someone Else's mistake she contracted hepatitis C from a tattoo needle.
She is only 22 but will have it the rest of her life, not to mention that she has been turned down for many good jobs that she is very qualified for because her tattoos are partially visible.
Is it really worth the risk to your baby or yourself?
Just because you think the needles are sterile, doesn't mean they are.

MOST tattoo parlors won't tattoo a pregnant person.. if they do they're not the type you want to be tattooed in. Even with clean needles, people can get sick from the ink and in some isolated cases it has gone so far as blood poisoning. What's the rush to get a tattoo? Can't you wait another few months?? Is it really worth risking your child's life?

Wait until after your birth giving- the stress hormones that will be released during the tattoo are not so great.
Even if you love getting a tattoo there is still the adrenaline rush of it- just hold off and then get two! The oone your planning to get and the Baby's name- he he

Considering that you can't even give blood as a blood donor, -when you've recently had a tattoo, I'd say it's rather risky and selfish to go ahead with a tattoo.
It probably taints your blood with these dye chemicals. After all, the tattoo artist has to be 'certified' with the needles being sterile, there's nothing to say whether the paint / dye is pure or polluted

Don't risk it. Not only are there dangers from the chemicals in the inks, but you are also at risk of infection. Just wait!
PS If you can't live without body art, get a henna tattoo. It's not permanent but it will last a while and won't put your baby at risk!

Getting the tattoo itself won't harm your baby. Your big concern would be if the tattoo parlor is clean. If they don't clean and sterilize their needles properly, you could get AIDS, hepatitis, as well as a host of other diseases.

I do not believe it is recommended for a pregnant woman to receive a tattoo. It's a risk, so why not wait until after birth?

OK. It's not recommended and most shops won't do the tattoo if they know you are pregnant. Hepatitis is the only real risk though.

normal tattoo studios have signs posted that if you are pregnant or think you are pregnant to come back when you arent becuase they wont tattoo you. i would check with the local tattoo parlor and your doctor to make sure they say its safe. personally i wouldnt do it. i would wait the nine months

The tatoo artist may opt not to do it. When you are preggos, you are producing almost twice the blood you normally have, this makes for annoying bleeding when you cut yourself (shaving is a PITA). So the tatoo may not heal as well because of this, causing scaring and loss of ink.
