Palm muting on a Floyd Rose bridge...?

You shouldn't be putting any pressure on the bridge or the strings. You want to mute the strings not disable them. Muting is a common tool used for some great sounds. Keep using it and practice with different levels of pressure and position away from the bridge. A light touch is all you need. Your Axe won't suffer.
