Yes they will make the playoffs next year. Here's why:
1) The depth of their bench (Jerry Stackhouse, Adrian Griffin, Darrell Armstrong, and role players Erick Dampier and DeSagana Diop)
2) The resigning of a pivotal player in PG Jason Terry
3) The new addition of Austin Croshere, a veteran big man who can rebound and shoot the outside jumper with consistency (acquired in trade with Pacers for swingman Marquis Daniels recently)
4) Dirk Nowitzki- 'nough said
5) The impending signing of veteran guard Mike James who fill up the bucket
No doubt my Mavericks will make the playoffs next season, they've got some unfinished business to attend to!
P.S. I didn't even mention Josh Howard the young, budding star

Absolutely - the playoffs are a virtual lock for the Mavs, particularly based on the impressive season they put together this year. Avery's new focus on defense has made them into the type of complete team that they need to be to compete. A couple off-season tweaks (which might include a bit o' duct tape for Mr. Cuban) and they'll be right back in it...
They may not have the inside track to the Western Conference Championship, but they'll definitely get in the playoffs as a top 4 seed.

There is no doubt, they are a lock for the top half of western conference. For a team to go to the championship game and then not make the playoffs would be a tremendous dissapointment. Even the bulls made it to the playoffs after they lost jordan in '93. The only way for them to not make the playoffs would be to lose dirk.

of course. the least they can achieve next year is the conference finals. the trade for croshere was stupid, though.
but they still got their core intact. i hope cuban wont be a distraction anymore, and will somebody please let take a shower before every game...
