Use the magic eraser blocks - they also work on walls etc. Try a small bit first.

First, some of the ideas submitted by others will damage a fine quality, stained wood table. Probably the only safe one is Goo-Gone, which dissolves grease, wax and food stains using a type of solvent. It does leave an odor so it has to be removed with a furniture polish or small amount of mild soap. Do not use heat or any chemical products which can dissolve the wood stain; if you do,you will have to re-finish the table.

Start with absorbent kitchen towel and a warm iron. This should liquidise the wax and absorb it.
After that an all-purpose kitchen cleaner and gentle rubbing with a soft cloth or maybe one of those scratchy green things
This may damage the finish a little but you should be able to touch it up with a thinned application of the same stain.

I use a product called Goof-Off. It removes just about anything from walls, furniture etc. Comes in a small can or bottle with a squirt nozzle and it is not expensive. Look in your local Home Improvement, hardware store or Wal Mart in the paint department.

old tea-towel and iron over it - move the tea-towel around to a 'fresh' bit and allow the door to cool slightly before ironing over the patch again (to avoid scorching the door). - keep going till the wax has all gone. I also have tips on how to move melted crayon from old tea-towels and iron faces
