Because we lost to them, it is easier to blame someone else than to accept that they were never really gonna win.

no no no no !!! You are all wrong.... You're all shouting about nothing. Until FIFA sorts itself out it will continue to be unable to deal with the other problems in football. I have a group of 9 friends who often discuss FIFA professioalism, and have done it LONG before this WC started. It wall began when it was blatantly obvious from the WC1998 until TODAY, to include all the Euros and WCs that FIFA through referees always orchestrate the outcome of games and therefore of all major tournaments. The group is a mixture of English, Portuguese and Dutch friends who have since WC'98 distrusted all World Cup and Euro results. The result yesterday caused a lot of laughter among us for we predicted that Portugal would "go down" with one pernalty, LOL !!! None of us is upset about results in the WC for they arenext to meaningless; we expected it already. What REALLY is distrurbing is the press of England enticing violence the way it does. In today's issue of the major newspapers in England has a photo of Ronaldo and someone pointing an automatic pistol at his head. Is that irresponsible journalism or downright enticement to violence ?! This is hysterical hournalism in my view. You can say that it is in good fun but if a nutter carries that "suggestion" out then it might not be so funny then. Very very, uncivilized, this whole thing !!

I am English and I don't hate him, despite the stick I got from my Scottish boyfriend about England being knocked out. I have been informed by said boyfriend that the English are hated by the rest of the world for being arrogant and having a superiority complex and the Ronaldo stories just back him up!

England started playing with the same number of men and could not score a goal. They also stopped Portugal from scoring. They still held that position when they were down to 10 men so really nothing changed. They lost fair and square on penalties because they are useless at them. As a team they are hopeless without self belief. As individuals there is exceptional talent. I would not even blame it all on Sven Goran Eriksson because at the end of the day he does not kick the ball, he just positions and coaches them but once on that field it is up to them. They lost through their own inadequacies and whether Ronaldo made it worse or not is really neither here nor there because he could not have made worse a situation that did not exist so look at Rooney for his temper tantrum. The team need to look at themselves to improve and win or lose on their own merits. The new manager needs to be ruthless and ignore the names of his players and instead concentrate on playing those guys who play well as a team and have the talent to deserve to be on the field.

It is easier to blame someone else for your mistakes but if you do that you never learn so therefore never improve. Maybe this experience will be used to strengthen the team and they will go on to bigger and better things. Who knows! But if they win or lose they will have done so themselves.

Players are not meant to go to the referee and tell him how to do his job, which the Portuguese players (amongst others) seem to have been very good at this World Cup. There is also speculation that Ronaldo said he would try to get Rooney sent off in the Portugal vs England game. He also winked at the bench when Rooney was sent off.

I think FIFA need to sort this out. The referee is there to make the decisions on the field, he doesn't need any helpful hints from the players on the field.

The hate campaign is not based only on that incident - that incident was just the catalyst for the outburst.

Whether or not Rooney was justified in being sent off (personally I have to say I think he was), hassling a referee to do it is despicable from any player and then the self-congratulatory winking to the bench afterwards reveals clearly that getting Rooney sent off was "on the agenda" as if it had been discussed and planned.

The fact that the French who, lets just say, are not the English's best pal, took up the cause and expressed their distaste for his behaviour shows not only that we had a point but a strong one at that.

I'm a man u fan and of course England and I'm still in 2 minds about this one, yes he aggravated Rooney but he should know has a fellow team mate no forget the mate bit that piss Wayne off and hes more than likely gonna score. i still want ronaldo to play for united next season even tho most of the country won't but he is a good player bit of a sissy boy at times but also has his uses. i wish it would just get dropped or he's not gonna play his best next season. nothing can be done about it now on the plus side Portugal are out we could of had a chance if we beat them as France beat Brazil but that's football we not there so i wish we could just forget about it! it was not ment to be!

Dude! your an idiot, Portugal are a wana be team, wana be good, wana be champions, see a wana be team.
The ref shouldav called for a foul before ronney even stood on carvalio, he was fouled atleast twice, as for rooney he has been praised by the likes of Thierry Henry, Ronaldinho, Pele, Maradona and zidane so shows what you know about football, clearly you must be Portugese which in fact is jsut a nasty growth on the side of spain, it should be cut off and thrown into the see to be with the rest of the sharks!!!!

It's not only England-if you watched the France Portugal match, he was booed every time he got the ball so many many countries don't like cheats.
Also was it fair to head butt Rooney before the match, and then to wink at his bench after Rooney got sent off? If that's how the modern game of football is going, you can keep it. The amount of diving in the Portugal France match sums up Portugal and Ronaldo's attitude. We can't play football, so let's cheat.

They are looking for an excuse as to why England lost. What they dont state is the fact that England actually played better after Rooney was sent off. This comes from my English colleagues so it is not my opinion. It is the blame factor. Rooney is a yob and needs to curb his temper. Even when provoked. It is called being an adult.

C. Ronaldo was a traitor. He mentioned that he would get Rooney sent off in the course of the match. He influenced the referee's decision and therefore the red card was shown.

I'm not being biased towards England because I actually supported Portugal.

Because of the wink to his team and mates afterwards. Because of the way he acted when taking his penalty. Because of the way he dives around all the time when nobody touches him. Because he always tries too much fancy stuff when he could pass to a team mate. Because he thinks he is the man and he hasn't won anything. He's getting too big for his boots. Alex Ferguson doesn't like this and he will discover that when he gets back to Old Trafford. I'm a Manchester United fan by the way. I could go on. Because......
