Its called emotions not childishness... football is his life and passion so it is very ok for him to weep and wail as he sees his lifeline severed

I guess football players must keep their head when playing. At the end of the match a player, as any athlete, could free his tension. I saw many Olympic athletes crying after a victory, as well as football players...
When a final stage WC match ends with your lost, I think it's easy to be overcame from emotion. You've done your best effort, were waiting for this day since you were a child, and now all is gone. I perfectly remember Italian captain Franco Baresi when Italy lost at penalties against Brazil '94 WC final (Baggio and Baresi fails their shoots). Baresi was not only an experienced player who collect many awards in Milan, but a sportsmanship and fair-play champion, and a cold guy always keeping his head. He was crying like a baby (as thousands of Italians were), he was too aged and it was its last WC. I haven't found this childish, they were nerves, emotion, tension grown in neverending 120' playing and penalties.
A broken dream.
To blame emotion in other, THIS is childish.... :-(

Look first of all in any sport in major competitons when you come so close after putting in so much work it's going to be heart wrenching soem people cus, some cry, some mope, some punch things, thats just his way of letting his emotions flow. Back off he is a good player even though he needs to cut the acting along with everybody else who does. He will be back at manu yeah he shouldnt been there made things worst but rooney needs to learn to control his temper . And by the way not everybody in England hates him

I have no problem with the cying I guess. They put a lot of hard work into it. LLosing one step short of the final has got to be heart breaking.
That being said, does Ronaldo really mean it? After all, anytime someone walks with a mile of him, he falls down in agony to try to get the foul. A minute later he is up and about again with a spring in his step!
I wonder if the tears were not dried out a minute after he left the pitch ;)

This is not the child attitude. This happens when something is lost that you loved from the core of your hearts.
One thing that you sleep with live with eat with is always your passion. And for any player of any game the biggest Show is the wordcup, and when you know this is your last chance to prove your-self, to do somethign to make your country pride: and you fail to do that; you know something better could have done but did't happened then this is something natural.
Only way to understand this is "to love a Game to the highest level and then lose it."

He was probably frustrated about losing the game. If this was in the FIFA, I can understand how losing is a big deal in this soccor tornament but if it was any other sprot, they have a very bad attitiude. But this sport may be a part of his life, something he has done for a long period of time that he can't help but scream if he loses.

That's their whole life. It's what they wait every four years to get. Wouldn't you want to get the biggest achievement in your field of work, to be able to say that you were the best for the next four years? Athletes have every right to cry when they get so close to achieving their goal and failing. If you ever played any kind of sport with passion, you would know.

He's very immature. He always whines about supposed fouls, frequently dives trying to get fouls called on opponents, and always lookes like he's going to cry when he misses a shot. He's a very good player, but very young and still immature. I hope he grows up and becomes more mature - it will make him a better player.

well that's okay i guess 'cuz his ambitions were thwarted so he can cry himself a river if he wants. what isn't okay is how he played that game. his threatrics specifically which i find disgusting. see how he would fake those falls and then flail his hands in aggravation when the ref refuses to make the call? what is that?!!! doesn't it embarrass him when his dives are shown over and over and the game commentators would just fall short of calling him a "cheat" on worldwide tv? *shudder*

So what is wrong with showing emotions
he played to his best ability. In his eyes he just did not do well enough
So he did the human thing, and gave vent to his feelings
Even the bravest should allow themselves to grieve .
They deserve compassion not derision
