I don't know what their actual reasons behind wanting the nuclear technology is, but according to American legal proceedure, a person is innocent until proven guilty. The way we are treating them (and every other nation that either Israel or the US don't like) is that they have to prove their intentions are innocent, which of course is impossible without time machines...

Personally I say, give them a chance, as long as they allow for international monitoring. That way we can keep track of how close to a missle thay actually are and if it becomes an issue we can do something then, but still before they are armed with nuclear weapons

They have the third largest oil reserves in the world.

These numbers are estimates (other sources differ like the CIA fact-book)
1. Saudi Arabia 216 billion barrels
2. Canada 178 billion barrels
3. Iran 125 billion barrels

With this much natural energy I don't see a reason to have nuclear plants other then for weapons grade plutonium.

Also the UN has offered to give them plutonium that could make electricity but not weapons and they say they don't want it. If they only want electricity then why?

The claims you point out accusing that the US made fake statements approximately Iran's nuclear objectives. is thoroughly ridiculous and asinine, those claims have been created from the UN IAEA inspectors there who suggested the enrichment and centrifuges. And the US is all out to safeguard all of our activity and allies there interior the middle East. to not forget approximately different international places like Pakistan, Saudi's , and others who're additionally in contact approximately this and is a factor of the coalition for disarming Iran

There are essentially two kinds of nuclear power production:
Enriched uranium = which the US developed after WW II for reasons closely related to bombs and military power

And CANDUE, which was developed in Canada using heavy water and unenriched uranium. This system is much safer and yeilds less toxic waste.

The CANDUE system is use in most of the world outside the US. If a use states that they are using nuclear power of electric generation only, by default they have to be useing the CANDUE system. If they are using enriched uranium they are seeking to do as the US has done; build bombs.

It's for Nukes according to the Main person who should know Secretary of State: Ms. Condoleezza Rice

'US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice alleged Iran is attempting to hide its nuclear weapons-related activities under cover of civilian nuclear power, and should live up to its obligations to have verification inspection of its nuclear sites.

Speaking to the press February 4 en route to London, Rice said Iran is attempting to use the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) as a "cover" of seeking civilian nuclear power, in order to "disguise activities that we believe could lead to a NUCLEAR WEAPON.

She said that Europe, the United States, Russia and the International Atomic Energy Agency need unity of message and unity of purpose with regard to Iran, and to let them [Iran] know in no uncertain terms that they cannot enjoy the benefits of NPT membership without fully living up to its obligations.

Rice also criticized Iran for its support of terrorism and for trying to deal with Iraq in ways that are not transparent'.
