Most lilkely because most american women lack self control, evade responsibility, and think they have a cultural right to be supported by society regardless of personal merit simply because they are women. Pretty much the same problems american men have (except for the "because they are women" part) that make the majority of them obese as well. :)

If you're asking this in comparison to other countries there are many reasons. Lack of good public transportation and accesible walking routes= cuts down on walking signifcantly. Many other countries have different work day schedules so home meals are considered highly important. Most european homes don't even have a microwave!!! And we can even go as far as to say that more Amercians in general are on medication that affects weight such as mood stabilizers etc. American custom has made making money a priority, not good health. So then stress results, and stress creates overeating, stress creates the need for medications etc...And it is not just women it is men also! But until our culture regarding health changes, we won't see any major declines in obesity anytime soon.

I'm not sure it's "most", but it's not just women. Many americans of all types suffer from obesity simply because of their diet. That's why there's so much illness due to poor health. Diabetes is at epidemic proportions. My doctor told me "You should eat to live, not live to eat". Good advice. I've lost nearly forty pounds and feel great after learning how to eat properly.

I spent last summer working in Houston, "The Fattest City in the U.S." ...yet most of the people I saw there were outside running and extremely fit! Then it occurred to me: the obese people must not come out of their homes. The real question is, are people obese because they don't play outside, or do they stay indoors because they're obese? (Or, most likely of all, is this a vicious cycle?)

well for some reason women suffer from obisity is that they are not cutting back on the caliorys and the fat acids which means like hamburgurs and fries are like 500 caloriys a pice and thet will be 1,000 in just one day u post to have 2,000 daily caloriys for a diet and somtimes people can not exersise becouse they cant harly move they get lazy if u just cut back on the fat acids and maybey eat like salads and friut u will sure will lose wait and walk around well thats all i have today

I am overweight, I don't just sit all day long, and do nothing. I have 3 kids a part time job, a youth group, so I do move. And I am not a big fast food eater either. Yes I need to eat less and do more, but that is really unfair to generalize like that.
