in a poll last year in britain it was revealed that a staggeringly large proportion of people believed it was a womans fault if she was raped whilst drunk, or if she was flirtatious, or wearing 'sexy' clothes.
what the hell can we do to educate people about rape, and disspell these myths and prejudices against women?

To red virus: you f*cking jerk. for one, women raping men is under 1% of cases, for very simple biological reasons. 2, i am not talking about any of the other things you mentioned. you got issues with those, ask questions about it yourself. three, if you've really got daughters my god i feel sorry for them.

and to churie, although i know a man aswell who was wrongly accused, and yes thats a problem, it is a tiny tiny %. it is estimated that rape is the least falsely reported crime. the percentage of men who are rapists and dont get punished for it is far, far greater.

The powers that B R continually modifying the Law 2 answer the question U've asked & I don't think they've doing much good!
There's 2 much inconsistency around the Country.
In 1 county they're given 7-10 years but somewhere else they'll get a few years!
We need CONSISTENCY 2 combat these problem.

I hear that Re-educating Paedophiles doesn't work so sex-offenders courses R often a waste of money & time.
Praps drugs 2 calm these evil men down would proberly B a better idea.

Unfortunately, this attitude is why victims don't come forward more often and why it is so hard to overcome the long-term effects of sexual assault. Further, even among rape victims, support is lacking. Some fight back. Some don't and they seem to judge the ones who did not respond the way they did.

Psychologically speaking, it is easier to blame the victim because that makes the problem individualized. In order to acknowledge and understand that ANY person could be a victim of sexual assault, one would have to admit their own vulnerability.

I know of somebody who was arrested being accused of rape. It turns out that he didn't want nothing more to do with the girl so she fabricated the whole thing. He spent a night in the cells crying his eyes out knowing that he was innocent. The police found out the truth, all of them were really good to him afterwards and sympathised, she got 6 months jail for wasting police time.

For rape? Well, i say , we take a long metal stick( like the automats that ask us for money, when we park the car), and we shove it up their ***....3 times a day for bout an hour...The hole process should take 2 months!...

WHILST DRUNK...well, this is telling us something not about a MYTH...this is REALITY.

Of course, I would like to see the guy(s) punished...but - as we say in my country - SHE CALLED FOR TROUBLE (no matter if the name of trouble is car accident or rape!)

...and why been "flirtatious" if the purpose is not sex?

Sexy clothes...well, it depends on how "SEXY" they are...if her interest is to tease men, she must know (and accept) the risks.

Instead of trying to educate "people" about rape, let's try to educate YOUNG GIRLS about how this life is, about society and dangers even in the most civilised world.
