I agree that it is indeed a fact bulls are color blind and yes it is the annoyance of the man waving the material.... however the color was said to be chosen red so that when and IF the bull got to the matador the people wouldn't be able to determine just how badly hurt the madator was with the fabric and blood being both red... as weird as it sounds even though the fight itself can be horrific we humans didn't want to seem totally shameless so why not try to ease the pain and suffering by hiding it with a little color eh?

A bull getting angry when seeing red is a big lie. Bulls can't see red because they are colorblind. The bullfighter teases the bull with the cloth to antagonize, in the process making the bull angry. As for why the cloth is red, that is most likely some old folk myth, kind of like how people used to believe that you could sail off of the face of the earth.

The bull instinctively goes for the cloth because it is a large, moving target, not because of its color; bulls are color-blind.
The red capes used to taunt bulls in bullfights is the same shade of red as the bull's blood. That way you can't tell it is covered with the bull's blood by the end of the fight. Fight spectators like bullfighting, but not blood.`

Apparently, it's not the red colour that angers the bull, but the movement of the flag. A bull is colour blind. I guess they just pick red because it's the colour of blood and most people coming to watch it are blood-thirsty anyway.

It had been said that the red flag was the only color a bull could see, but that has since been proven wrong.
What makes the bull mad is the person taunting him with the flag. The color is meaningless.

Bulls are almost absolutely color blind.
Red, of course is the one color they can determine quite easily.
Red does not anger the bull, it attracts it, the matador and the crowd, are what will actually anger the bull.

The red colour of the cape is a matter of tradition, as bulls are actually colour blind.
