First off there will always be someone out there better, but I believe that to be strong, is to realize that life is not always perfect and that how we handle what is thrown at us is what determends how strong we are. We have to remember to be true to ourselves and not let the problems along the way destroy us. People in general are survivors and if we take away with us something go out of bad situations we make ourselves stronger. Like most things in life, it is all in how you look at things.

I don't think there is one diffinition to define 'strong', it depends on the person. Somone who is not physically strong, can mentally be very strong and vica versa.
Many religios people find strenght in their faith, while others don't have that strenght.
If you want to be the strongest, you'd have to be strong in every way. No, the strongest in every way. And since that is unlikely to happen, I don't think anyone can be a strongest person.
You can be the strongest when it comes to muscles, you can be mentally stronger then everyone else, but I've never met anyone who was both.

I think being "strong" means having a solid sense of self; if the world can't force you to change who you are, break you and make you feel bad about yourself, make you give up and quit trying, or cause you to become a sad, bitter, hopeless person with no dreams, then you are strong. You are strong if you keep persisting in the face of anything, if you keep your head up, and if you never give up. Physical strength is only one way of being strong, and maybe it is the least way? I say that because that way can change with time or be broken, but a strong spirit never will change.

2 schools of thought:
1) Strength is a statement based on the level of resistance to another substance or force. Ex: You are a strong willed person. One would see this as saying that your will pushes away any opposable force.
2) Strength is a statement of acceleration from another situation or force. The farther you go beyond a set parameter, the "stronger" you are. Ex: He is stronger than 10 men.

To be strong means to be able to face any dire situation in life with the same level of mental balance so as to not affect the life condition.
Ideally a person should first be mentally strong - this gives in him the power to determine his / her goal , and once the determination is made achieving results becomes easy

"Strong" is an abstract usually associated with strength, but in the greater scheme of things, it relates to the abstract of "greater than average". An individual who is "Strong" is endowed with the ability to handle situations as they arise without panic, without prejudice, and do so in an efficient manner, almost methodologically. A "strong" stomach, a "strong arm", or a "Strong sense of Morality", all of these statement's bring pictures of individuals, that depending on the noun associated with the word "Strong", that are larger, more well equipped, or more able to handle themselves than the average.
Just my 2 cents worth.

strength is measured not in the broader scope of all mankind, but in the more subjective of the individual. For instance, I am strong when it comes to drinking alcohol because I do not have an aversion to it, so driving through the night club section of town has no appeal to me. That does not mean I am strong in my resolve. However, my friend who battles alcoholism would be considered strong in the very same action, because to him he had to overcome the temptation.
