I recently read an article about sleeping problems. One of the suggestions is to not drink coffee or tea or anything with caffeine after noon time. I would avoid sugar in the evening also. Eating too soon before going to bed can also affect your ability to go to sleep. Some other suggestions were to get up early in the morning every day, no matter what, and get exercise every day to tire the body. Just some ideas. Try a search on "sleep disorders" at http://www.find-the-best-doctor.com/ there are some links there that might help.

There are plenty of things that help me and are completely healthy and natural!
1. drink warm milk with honey or sleepy tea
2. get some one to give you a massage
3. go running for half an hour or an hour right before sleeping
4. take a warm herbal bath
5. when you r lying in ur bed, sleep on your back and straighten you entire body and concentrate on relaxing every part of you body, one by one, starting at you toes and feet and ending with every part of your head.
If you're a very bad sleeper do all of the above all at once ;)

Lay down, close your eyes and concentrate on your breathing for a minute or so. Your mind will wander, its okay...just refocus.
Then--Imagine yourself standing in front of a big dry erase board, maybe in a classroom. And write the number 1000 on it. Then erase it and write "Deep Sleep." Then erase it and and write 999 and erase then write "Deep Sleep" again. go all the way down to 0.
Chances are you wont make it to zero. the repetition should knock you out.
Good luck.

Try thinking about what you would like to do. Plan it out in detail, before you know it you will fall asleep.

try buying some melatonin , it is usually in the herbal section of your local store. Warm milk has a natural enzyme that helps you relax. Valerian root also helps to relax. No red meat or caffeine for at least 4hrs before sleeping.

Get a massage...paricularly the feet...and make sure that your enviroment is safe and restfull. GEt a dog that will defend you while you sleep. Use at least 4 pillows. Put lavender under the pillow. Make sure you brush your teeth before you go to bed. Don't eat for 2 hours before you go to bed.... Close your eyes and tell yourself that you are going to go to sleep now ...so shut up.

One tip someone told me once when I was having trouble sleeping in the Summer, was to close you eyes, clear your mind, and think of stroking red velvet and the touch of it on your skin. It worked a treat and still does when I'm having real trouble sleeping.
