Me and my boyfriend are trying for a baby, and have been for 5 months. Up until then, I was on birth control pills, but have been off them for 5 months.

In these 5 months, my periods have been really irregular, I assume they are adjusting back to normal. I should have my period round about now, but I can't be certain, due to the recent irregularity!

I have been having pains such as cramps, tender boobs etc.. very similar to period pains, but these have been going on for a whole week now, and I have had no bleeding as yet. I usually only get period pains a day or two before my period...

Could I be pregnant? Or could it just be wishful thinking?

It's becoming a pain, as I don't feel safe to go anywhere (shopping etc..) with these pains in case I get cut short with my period.

When I got pregnant, I had very irregular periods too. I had the same symptoms you do and I was pregnant. Everytime my period was supposed to come, I got cramps and slight bleeding for the first 2-3 months of my pregnancy. If you see a doctor, they can tell you. GOOD LUCK!!!

I'm afraid that it is wishful thinking this time. Besides if you were pregnant..pain would be signs of a bad thing so lets just hope that you are not. I'll tell you what, have you seen your ob/gyn for a pre-conception visit? Just to make sure that your body is ready to make a baby. Try it and discuss your recent irregularity and your doctor will give you all the true tips to conceiving quickly.

If you have to ask "Could I be pregnant?" then the answer is always yes. If you have to ask "Could it just be wishful thinking?" the answer is the same.

It is very common to have irregular periods after coming off of hormonal birth control. It is usually a sign of infertility. Most women have a return of fertility within a year, but rarely, it is permanent. Your doctor should have told you all this when she/he wrote the original prescription and *again* every time she/he wrote a renewal!!

Sounds like you may be!! Very sore boobs and slight cramping is a sign of pregnancy. I would take a HPT, and then see your doctor in a few days for a blood test. Good Luck!!
