Also I have known for years that my truck gets way better gas mileage with no A/C on, the A/C uses alot of power from your engine.

Depends on how fast you're going.
If you're doing 30, I don't think the drag caused by opening the windows is going to significantly affect the amount of fuel used. Have you noticed a difference in performance (ie: having to rev the engine higher) between driving normally with the windows open and shut? I suspect not.
On the other hand the power required to drive the A/C depends on the temperature setting on the controls. But as soon as you turn it on, it uses more power thus more fuel regardless.

I find that running the AC on a hot day is better for the environment.
(My environment, in my vehicle, is cooler and more comfortable, and that is all I care about!!)
