My own answer is a very big NO. The ref kept ignoring French fouls and being over strict with the Portuguese side. Ronaldo was pushed down near the french goal, and a French player defended with his hand at the same place - the ref pretended he didn't see, or was he influenced by the dirty press's campaign? High competition soccer is A FARSE, where the most affluent countries keep advancing. The underdogs don't stand a chance.
That being said, I rest my case and say no more about this match. I'm surely Italy will win, Fance doesn't play that much. And I will be at the airport to cheer the Portuguese team when they arrive.
Força Portugal, os cães ladram a e a caravana passa (Dogs bark and te caravan still pulls ahead - meaning, we don't give a shi!t about sore losers' complaints that we are divers, cheaters, etc. That's simply not true and you know it.
GO PORTUGAL - GO SCOLARI - GO NATIONAL TEAM.
PORTUGAL 4EVER.
I'M SO PROUD TO BE PORTUGUESE. WE ROCK!! End of story.

I said I rest my case but I open an exception for you Islemoron:
9 yellow given by Ivanov correspond to the almost WHOLE 10 fouls in that game. Numbers may mean nothing if you consider a ref gives out a card for every foul committed.
FYI, Portugal had 49 matches in a row - yes, forty-nine - corresponding to the last almost 5 years WITHOUT A SINGLE RED CARD.
So now shutufuckup. You're home since Saturday, we're still in Germany. End of story.

no, because the referees at this world cup are particurarily calling in favor of the team that is the favorite. Example, Italy vs australia 8th finals game. It should'nt have been called a penalty by spanish reef. If it was an Italian defender doing it, the ref will never call a penaly in favor of australia on the same play.

Listen....if Portugal didn't get a penalty last night, or many fouls given for them then it's their own fault. If they didn't dive around so much and try and get opposition players booked/ sent off then maybe if and when they were genuinely fouled decisions would go for them. There were NO fouls on Portuguese players in the French penalty area..and a CLEAR foul on Thierry Henry in the Portuguese box...Last night was in keeping with how football is played in Portugal and the cheating excuse called the Portuguese league, where Porto, Benfica and Sporting buy wins every season, and where it's inbred into kids from an early age that the only way to win is to cheat and that it's ok. Instead of investigating Serie A, maybe someone should investigate the bull that happens in Portugal every season. Portuguese players are an absolute disgrace to the sport and until they show some goddamned respect and professionalism and quit whining like 5 year olds then they'll never get respect. So get over it, you're out of the world cup, your own damn fault so stop blaming others......

It was a foul in the box - therefore a penalty.

How about if Portuguese players went for the ball rather than going for diving?

I cannot respect a team that CONSTANTLY cheats in such a way. I am glad you still value your national side so closely, but isn't it time you took a few steps back and took an objective look at your team?
What do you really think about Ronaldo's diving? Do you think that's good football attitude?
Furthermore, do you think players that dive should get a yellow card?

At least when England went out, everyone had a look at the team and realised what was right and what was wrong. Have the courage to criticise your team. Have the courage to tell Ronaldo his attitude is stopping him from becoming the world class player that he could be.

Umm, Suarez saved his country when they were just about to go out. He got a red card, missed the next match, and got court for it, oh and also every time he touches the ball now they boo him. To the Uruguayan people Suarez is a hero, but to the rest of the world he is a cheat. To me, its the same, I know anybody would have done it, If Gyan wouldn't have missed the penalty, nobody would call him a cheat. But what really pisses me off, is that all the Africans cry about it, call him a cheat, and at the next World Cup, they will probably bring it up again, but nobody remembers that Ghana basically injured most of the Uruguayan players. Henry on the other hand, he didn't get punished, it was just like nothing. His country did horrible at the World Cup so it was like nothing.

The foul against Henry WAS a penalty-maybe he looked for it a bit but contact was made so therefore it was a penalty. I would normally say of course you would get a penalty in the same circumstances, but seeing as Portugal are now getting a world-wide reputation for diving/cheating, you're far less likely to get decisions go your way because referees have to be 100% that it was a foul-and not just more cheating from the Portugal players. Cut out the diving and you may get more decisions go your way as everyone is getting wise to the cheating.

The FIFA statistics at http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/w/stats/detail.html?section=tdc show that Portugal top the table for cards given...

21 yellows and 2 reds!

England are 23rd on the table with just 9 yellows and 1 dubious red.

Good old USA played with the most professionalism though. They are bottom of the Team Disciplinary table with just 5 yellows but 2 reds.

Well done USA. It's nice to see teams that want to play football rather than play comical theatrics...

Your dreaming you stupid ****! Henry was tripped in the area end of story! Gay boy Ronaldo just kept diving and his over acting didn't convince the ref. You might be able to kid yourself and every other portugezer but every other football loving fan that hates what Portugal represents is glad you went out crying like babies.. Try playing some footy next time and leave the diving to the Olympics..

See. I agree with you.. The foul on Henry was not a penalty.. in fact I better say that it was not a foul... unbelievable decision by the referee.. With all the respect to Zidane and France, Portugal was the better side and if this game had gone to penalty shootout, Ricardo would save more than Bartez... Portugal is the winner to me

The Portuguese side should take up swimming with all the diving they did. Now you know how we felt when we got cheated by a bad decision from the ref. Sounds like your trying to convince yourself that your proud to be portuguese. Its not where you come from that counts its the person you are! Hope France wins Zidane deserves to win something when he retires.

Dont EVEN go there! what about the England game where Portugal cried and practically bought the refs? You live by the sword, you die by the sword. I couldn't wait to see the look on Ronaldo's face.
