What is scary is there are lots of narrow minded holier than thou hyprocrites like you.

Why that response? I am not trying to be a hypocrit. It was a serious question, to people with relegions its not just the end of the road, but to those who beleive in nothing it must be.

That is where my question is.

Well, it might not be. I don't know. If it is, it is. There's not much I can do about it.

Yes, it is scary. I don't want to die. But we have to accept certain things as inevitable.

Much in life is scary.

Thousands and thousands of years ago when man walked on the face of the earth, he barely understood the world around him. When he first saw lightning, he did not have the ability to explain it, so he assumed there was a higher force at work. This logic, this reason continued for a long time until people like the Greeks during their Hellenistic period began to question the world around them. By the time we get to the Roman Empire gods of all sorts were used, not only to explain things for many people, but to answer their wants and needs. The Middle Ages brought darkness of all kinds and the suppression of knowledge was rampant and explaining the world through intelligent reasoning, through science became ta-bu and the likes of Copernicus and Galileo were persecuted from the religious right of their time. The Renaissance changed all of that and brought about the evolution of modern day man. We can explain much of our world and the challenge is to continue that effort. People do not need a beyond anything. There is no need to turn to religion, just science and fact. Before you were born you did not exist in an y form. You are born, You live your life, and then there is death. The fact that you are worm-food after you die says that you do your part to become a part in Mother nature and help to perpetuate and sustain the world. A noble cause indeed I would say.

It doesn't matter if death is scary or not it simply exists and is as it is. There are a lot of harsh realities in life and accepting them is part of growing up. I suppose if an atheist could make himself believe in a total dillusion to feel better they would but how do you do that? It won't make death any less scary to say you believe in god and heaven if you just don't.

"Do You find it scarey that your nothing more than wormfood after you die?"

It doesn't scare me, but it obviously scares the christians and other theists. Why else would they make up or believe in supernatural mumbo jumbo?

Worrying about what happens after death is like trying to outrun your own shadow, it's a pointless waste of effort.

Sometimes Religion is the scary part:

Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined and imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch towards uniformity.

Don't you find it scary that after a couple of thousand years people of different religions are STILL trying to kill each other off?
Don't you find it scary that religious people think that it's a good thing to kill and die for their God.
And you think I'm immoral?

I find it comforting to know that I am wormfood. I am also the worm. I am also the stone on top of the worm. I cannot distinguish between you, me, and all the little colour dots on my computer screen. All is one, and one is all, and when the worms eat me, my stomach will be full. Have a nice day!

We didn't exist before we were born, and we won't exist after we die. At least we will be free from all the pain and sorrow in the world today.

Nope - not everyone without a religion beleives that. I have an open mind and will go wherever Death sends me :)

No I don't find it scary at all.

In fact it motivates me to live the best life I possibly can, since you only live once.
