A Clamp Meter is normally used to measure current. To use a clamp meter, set the rotary switch to the lowest resolution, (that is the highest value in the selector, its always good to be conservative with electricity). The probe or clamp is opened to allow insertion of the wiring, and then closed to allow the measurement. Only one conductor is passed through the probe. If there is electricity flowing, the needle of the meter should move and then remain steady at a certain point. To read it, take into account the resolution you selected because each selection corresponds to a particular set of numbering in the graduated arc in the meter face. To increase the accuracy of the measurement, switch the selector to a higher resolution. You may also use the locking mechanism, its a push button that when pressed, it will lock the needle, enabling you to read the measurement even if the clamp is no longer placed around the conductor.
