Nothing, it's not an acronym.

"As Pepsi was initially intended to cure stomach pains, Bradham coined the name Pepsi from the condition dyspepsia (stomachache or indigestion)."

Cola was medicine once upon a time. Still is, actually. You can buy cola syrup, it's used for nausea and stomach ache. Works fairly well, if you can keep it down.

"Pepsi-Cola was first made in New Bern, North Carolina in the United States in the early 1890s by pharmacist Caleb Bradham. On August 28, 1898 , "Brad's drink" was changed to "Pepsi-Cola" and later trademarked on June 16, 1903. As Pepsi was initially intended to cure stomach pains, Bradham coined the name Pepsi from the condition DYSPEPSIA (stomachache or indigestion)."

The term "Pepsi" in its name is surely an indicator. One of Pepsi-Cola's earliest known advertisement is found in the Feb. 25th, 1903 New Bern Daily Journal, and one of it's claims was that it "Aids Digestion" -- a popular claim for items containing pepsin. Lastly, another newspaper ad produced in 1908 flat out said "PEPSI-Cola is an absolutely pure combination of pepsin -- that's what your stomach needs these days -- acid phosphate and the juices of fresh fruits." (However, it is a fact that by 1923 Pepsi-Cola no longer contained pepsin as an ingredient).

well initiallty pepsi wasnt meant to be a soft drink, it started out as a medicine for indigestion and a diuretic , but the people who had it liked it somehow and it was then marketed as a soft drink. so pepsi got its name from the protien pepsin which is an enzyme in our stomach , since it had almost the same function (wen it was meant to be a medicine)it got it name as pepsi,.
