So far I have been eating rice since childhood and it hasn't affected me in any bad way. I weigh 20 lbs. overweight, but, that's just been lately because i'm getting older and i'm not as active as I used to be. I used to weigh around 110 lbs. for a 5 foot 5 inch tall person and i've always eaten rice everyday. My family came from Asia and asians are known to eat rice everyday.

It's a carb, but at least one third of the world eats very little but rice. (Check out the World Hunger Association website). In a balanced diet, all carbs like pasta, potatoes and breads could be replaced with a rice dish. I would recommend using brown rice and it is higher in nutritional value and also has more fiber.

too much of anything is bad, and that includes rice. you should always create a balance of eating wheat products (bread in your national form) just as many times a week as you eat rice.
it is full of starch and burns in your body as fat - so it contributes to weight addition as well. it is especially harmful for diabetics.

I wouldn't think it is really all that bad. Try switching to brown rice, it is much more beneficial to your diet.

Eating too much is not good. Take only what you need and keep a balance diet.
