absolutely it was sex - that's how Adam and Eve could become creators like God, which is what the serpant told them.
also notice that they suddenly realize they're naked (nudity no longer innocent), and all the pronouncements by God to them are about sex, ie to Eve you shall give birth in pain (if she's not pregnant, why bring it up?) and to the serpent 'I will put enmity between they seed and the woman's seed' .
you got it. that's why as time went on, God continually warned Israel about mixing seed (DNA) with outside tribes.

The only thing I'll say is that you're totally off your rocker. Read the passage and pray for enlightenment. I have read the passage several times now and I don't get how you can even interpreted it that way..... They could eat from any tree just not the one in the middle, Oh yeah can you picture Satan there trying to tempt Eve into having sex in the middle of the garden. Anywhere but there. She saw the tree and saw that it was good for food, what more do you want? would it make you feel better if it said that she partook of physical fruit. Fruit is fruit, not sex and where you came up with that is beyond me.

I think it was indeed a fruit, though not necessarily an apple, as seems to be traditionally thought. In this particular context, when reading Genesis, I really don't get the impression that it was symbolic. I don't think it was sex, as God placed Adam and Eve there together with the purpose of multiplying and filling the earth. Sex between a married couple (since they were the first humans, they would have been married only in the eyes of God rather than God and men), is not shameful.

If sex is sinful as so many of us are told, think carefully now, why did God bestow us with urges, feelings & emotions? Was he playing "Bet you can't hold out" with us? I do not think the forbidden fruit was sex. As stated in the Bible Eve was alone when the serpent approached her in the Garden. She had already eaten of the fruit before Adam joined her and did the same.

There is also Cain that Slew Abel. Cain is sent to the land of Nod where he becomes a fugitive and a vagabond. Now pay attention to this...if Eve had a third seed named Seth...then who was Cains wife remains a mystery. The generations of Cain was other than Eve...hm, kind of scarry. I asked a preacher the question a long time ago and his response was that Eve had many children, but that is not what the Bible says.
It leads me to believe that the missing link is Cains generation.
In any event the bible has missing scriptures, but Adam and Eve did see they were naked after eating the forbidden fruit, but the fruit was not actually a edible source...it was the tree of life which means nothing ventured nothing gained.

It was the serpent that told Eve to eat of the fruit, and that is the sin of woman - woman the fertile, woman the being which has been opressed and subjugated since the dawn of the patriarchal single God religion. The serpent is representative of the Pagan beliefs that the potency of woman was a natural force which should be venerated. Sex and sexual power was a big deal to the pagan religions. Don't forget that the bible has been primarily written by men and stands as a major piece of anti-female propoganda. Ultimately we have been following the wrong God, look at where this one has brought us, follow the serpent and eat of the fruit, experience the power - without malevolence - of the earth and the goddess.
Its just a thought.

The commandent to "not eat of the fruit" was given in Chapter 2, verse 13. God commanded man to "be fruitful and multiply" in Chapter 1 verse 28. He gave the command to have children before not eating fom the tree. I don't think that God had a plan for children which did not include sex. The tree was just a test, to show man that he was a disobedient person from the beginning.

If I remember correctly, in the context of the story the fruit was on the tree of knowledge. By eatting the fruit Adam and Eve learnt what was good and bad. And by knowing this they now new that defing god was bad and for some reason decided to cover their fun bits in leaves out of shame.

God’s command, as found at Genesis 2:16, 17, reads: “From every tree of the garden you may eat to satisfaction. But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.” At the time this command was given to Adam, he was alone in the garden, for the creation of the woman is not mentioned until later in the account. (Gen. 2:21, 22) The command itself likewise shows that Adam was by himself. In the original Hebrew text, the word “you” is in the singular. So, how could the forbidden fruit pertain to sex relations, when Adam was the only human on the earth?
Also, interpreting the command about the forbidden fruit to signify sex relations contradicts the positive command given to the first human pair to procreate. They were told: “Be fruitful and become many and fill the earth.” (Gen. 1:28) How unreasonable, unjust and unloving it would have been for Jehovah God to encourage the filling of the earth and then to prohibit, under pain of death, the having of sex relations!
The answer is that God’s command was a test of obedience -- and not a difficult one. They were not deprived of needed food, nor were they tested beyond their ability. But their obedience would show that they appreciated their relationship with God. (1 John 5:3) When God commanded them not to eat the fruit of a certain tree it merely meant that God singled out one of the many fruit trees of Eden and commanded the human pair not to eat of its fruit. Why was the tree called “the tree of the knowledge of good and bad”? Because, as a result of God’s command, its fruit symbolized God’s right to decide for his creatures what is “good” and what is “bad” for them.

they did not eat a actual fruit. The tree of Knowledge of good and evil was the tree that they were forbidden to eat from. Tree in Hebrew means spine or backbone. ( Its talking about the central nervous system of the human body) Tree was Satan. there was no fruit she had sex with Satan. Satan was the most beautiful angel ever created and he seduced her with his charm and beauty. she then had opened her eyes to the truth and was not innocent as a baby who his not aware of its nakedness. this is how Cain and able came about Cain was the seed of Satan and able was the seed of Adam. Cain became the first murderer. Satan wanted to pa lute the seed line that Christ would come through so he could not be born with out sin. Temptation is the lesson here. Over coming the temptation of Satan when its put in front of you. There sin was disobeying God, not sex. Sex done for love is a blessing, but sex done out of lust and desire ungodly.
