It's called ventriloquism or to "throw one's voice". I found a neat website about the art...see link below

then the heading under "outdoor activities for boys" (this is a scout website) find "Traditional Old School Scouting" a heading under this is called: Cecil Bullivant's "Ventriloquism in a Month" (CLICK).

Ventriloquism - is the art you are looking for. you see artists hooked to a big monkey doll or a special doll designed for this very purpose. these dolls have movements in their eyes, limbs, mouth etc., you need to have great control over your lips in order to make it look real. these artists virtually bring out a totally different person with their voices. My regards to you if you are planing to be one.
