why ban it? yes you may say 'leave this to god', but how many believe in god? you may say 'the world will become unbalanced', thats hypothetical, its already unblanced anyway, whos to say we cant make it balance then?
many countries have banned this practise although it is legal in america. we are preventing further research and discoveries.
saying that people should not be allowed to do this is the same as forcing other beliefs on people.
we should at least be given the choice if we do want to do it. we given the choice of religion, whether to be hetro or homo, whether to marry or not, to have kids or not. so why should we not be allowed this?
last factor, if we can go for scans then abort, why shouldnt we be allowed to choose it anyway before killing a fetus?

on one hand, i'd say no. Why would you have a preference for a boy over a girl, or vice versa??? In situations like China, there would definately a big unbalance being created since most people would go for a boy there, as they already do by abandoning/aborting girls.
On the other hand, i can think of a situation or two when it would make a difference. Friends of mine are part of a family with 4 girls... so i can imagine the parents wouldnt have minded a boy after the second girl...
but all in all, i'd say why not just enjoy the fact of becoming a parent and just be happy with whatever you get???

I think that if a parent wants to choose the sex of their child that is perfectly ok. However, they need to realize that just because they got the sex they wanted doesn't mean they got their "perfect" scientifically engineered baby.
My son is autistic. If there was a scientific way to engineer a baby that was not autistic I would probably have done the procedure. However, I love my son as much as my healthy daughter and now they are here, I wouldn't trade either child for the world.

Mother Nature has done her part for this long, why mess with her? If a couple wants a girl or boy, than adopt what they want. If a couple is so set on one sex that they sire, than they should be sterilized and not be aloud to have children naturally. Only fair. Plus they should not have any claim to any embryos of unwanted sexes in the process. All embryos should go to people who want a child no matter what sex.

people all over the world especially in developing countries prefer a mail child and many females are killed in their mothers wombs for this reason,now America is providing a better way to stop female births. wow what a GUD IDEA.

The sex of a baby should be left to God- and yes a lot of people believe in Him and follow his word.

Some may think it's creepy, but I think that's up to the parents. Why shouldn't they combine their DNA as seems best? What if they have five boys, they can only have one more child, and they want a little girl?

Not at all ,if it happens ,in lot of countries there will be no Mothers to give birth to new children,because lot of people they don't like Girls,it 's stupid but true,so it,'s better not to give that privilege to choose the sex of unborn baby to parents.

i don't think people should be allowed to choose the sex of their childern. I think it is werid and gives people way to much power.
