Nanotechnology is the design, characterization, production and application of structures, devices and systems by controlling shape and size at the nanoscale. Eight to ten atoms span one nanometer (nm). The human hair is approximately 70,000 to 80,000 nm thick.

Nanotechnology involves the design and creation of nanites.

Nanites (the end product of nanotechnology) are mini-robots. Typically on a cellular level. If they are possible then they may be able to repair a human from the inside. Kinda like a mini construction or repair crew inside the body.

Nanotextured surfaces are one dimension on the nanoscale, i.e., only the thickness of the surface of an object is between 0.1 and 100 nm.

1.Nanotechnology involves research and technology development at the 1nm-to-100nm range.
2.Nanotechnology creates and uses structures that have novel properties because of their small size.
3.Nanotechnology builds on the ability to control or manipulate at the atomic scale.

Nanotechnology is an anticipated manufacturing technology giving thorough, inexpensive control of the structure of matter. The term has sometimes been used to refer to any technique able to work at a submicron scale; here it is used in the more usual sense of general control of the structure of matter on a nanometer scale--that is, a broad ability to control the arrangement of atoms. This ability will require development of devices termed assemblers. (A micron is a millionth of a meter; a nanometer is a billionth.)
