I recently bought a 8 week old kitten and I woke up this afternoon to see her limping. One of her back legs wasn't touching the floor and I went over to her and gently squeezed it to try and feel where the exact spot was, that is causing her pain. She meowed when I found it and she would not let me help her. She has just been laying in the corner sleeping and hasn't played or run around the house. She will only get up to eat. I can't tell if her leg is broken or just sprained and I don't have the money to take her to a vet. Can anyone help me out on this?

I understand about not having the money to go to the vet. There are a few signs to check for. If the leg is kind of dangling or looks odd...it may be broken. If she just has it tucked against her body she could have just hurt it and it'll heal. I'd say give her a day or two and if it doesn't go away then call around and see if any of the vets around you would be willing to do a payment plan.

I'm not going to read every other response, but I am a bit more qualified to answer this because I was there when my kitty, Patches, broke her leg.

I doubt that your cat has a major breakage, although, a small hairline fracture may be possible. I bet its a sprain, because my cat hissed up a storm and cried and cried about her poor leg.

Take her to the vet though! If the leg is broken, it needs to be bandaged up and splinted. If they do not do this, there is a good chance your cat will forever walk with a limp, or worse yet, an infection could incur and ultimately result in death.

Hope your kitty gets help soon!

Yes, it could be broken, bones break easily. Do you have a vet that you use regularly? Take the cat to the vet, most will set up payment plans. Being able to afford something and not is a matter of not getting stuff you don't need, your cat needs medical attention. Please, take her in. It may only be a sprain or a cactus stuck in the leg, but you need to get it looked at.
Sorry, that is the price of having animals. I have 3 and they keep me in the vets office a bunch.

I'm sorry but you really have to take her to a vet. I'm sure someone can lend you money. If it's broken and you leave it, it may heal out of place and she may have a permanent limp, and be in pain, for the rest of her life. She sounds to be in a lot of pain right now, so please, take her to the vet.

you asked if your dog gets along with your cat. Your dog probably got your cat. Take it to the vet. Don't let it suffer. If you have an animal be responsible and borrow the money to get it help. Sleeping could be shock, she could be permanently crippled. Then how would you feel?

You must phone a animal shelter or something that will be able to help you and won't charge you much or maybe at all. But do it quickly cause obviously the animal is in a lot of pain.

you might've stepped on her in one of your midnight trips to the bathroom. If the vet is too expensive for you, try taking her to a near by campus. There's gotta be some cat-loving veterenary students who would be glad to help out. Or you can always ask another question here. (^_^)v

you need someone who knows what they're looking at to look at your cat. i cant tell over the internet, but your cat sounds like its really hurting. you better come up with that cash for the vet or you might have a cat that is permanently disabled. if you're a pet owner you need to plan for this things to take care of your pet. borrow it.
