I choose to believe in God because I know I dont have all the answers, but I believe someone does. Random things coming together to create life is far fetched, because what is the point then.
Our true test here on earth is faith. We are given numerous reason to have none, and that is the key. Faith is believeing is something you cant prove, see, or touch. So faith is the only way to believe. I think God wants us to see that there are things greater than ourselves, things we dont understand. We should aspire to understand and to learn. The more answers we find, the more questions will arise.
If you spend your life believing in God and you die, even if there is no God you will die happy with the belief you are going to a better place. If you die never believing in God you are accepting that this is it. Once you are dead you are worm food and nothing more. That is depressing to me. I would rather spend my life believing in the unseen.

Obedience to the one that was the giver of their life should have been top priority.
Dozens and dozens of the same fruit trees, only the center tree was not to be touched.
HOW SIMPLE,
So the be fruitful and multiply fall upon sinful and dying man and he lost the tree of life in Gen,3:22; by no fault of his own, as innocent we are promised a SAVIOR from the temporary life back into the way it was before sin in Eden Rev.22:14;
John 3:16; God has made a way. 1Cor.15:22; Jesus John 17:3,5,24; who was there to see Eden, along with all angels Job 38:4-7; has promised eternal life restored that was lost. When all is restored the kingdom is turned over to God and his kingdom that God may be all in all as he is our life giver and we need to know that.
Adam and Ever were created Souls.
We are souls born in sin to die. Heb.9:27;
We will be resurrected souls Psm.104:29,30; Rev.20:1-6,12,13; All LOST will be made NEW. Rev.21:1-5

Another profound question....
You really ask a good but very distasteful question. This question has been asked for many, many years.
First of all to believe in God is to acknowledge that a lot of God's opposites exists, including the devil. Don't just think about God but think about what God represents and everything surrounding God. Some people believe God is a female. Have an open mind.
Personally, I won't tell you what I believe in. But I will tell this....
You are alive and have the ability to be what you want to be.

Interesting how many of the answers so far involve the distinctly non-observable hypotheses of heaven, hell and divine retribution. The Bible is one version, actually a few hundred, of how it might work.
I don't think that either theism or atheism is inherently better; I think that the most important thing is to ask honest questions and search openly for the answers. I will offer one possible benefit to both -- it's psychologically healthier to be true to oneself and believe whatever it is that one most truly believes. Trying to fit into a worldview that's a mismatch is soul-destroying.

Hi. well, im a Christian.
I see life like this. God has shown us himself through all life, the environment around us, the people who care for us, etc. I know from reading the gospels (Mark, Matthew, Luke, John) in the Bible that God sent his Son Jesus to die for our sins. This shows us how much he loves us.
This means that if we accept Jesus into our hearts he will forgive us our sins and make us a new person who wants to do what is right and live a good life. We don't have to worry about all the scary stuff in this world or about death. God has accepted us into his family and we have the assurance that we will go to heaven when we die.
I have found that asking Jesus into my heart has completely changed my life for the better. I have a purpose in life and am so happy. Even though hard times come, God is always there to help me. I can't imagine living without God in my life.
Here's a tip, how about you read one of the gospels in the new testament of the bible and pray by talking to God (as you would a person) and ask him to show you himself. I promise he will.
Its amazing what you'll find he'll do for you
sarah =)

god is there and our existence shows his existence.And let us not trust to human effort alone, but humbly acknowledging the power and goodness of Almighty God, who presides over the destiny of nations, and who at all times has been revealed in our country's history, let us invoke His aid and His blessings upon our leaders.
Everything is good when it leaves the Creator's hands; everything degenerates in the hands of man.
God does not want to be believed in, to be debated and defended by us, but simply to be realized through us.
those who are non believers should at least think for once that such a huge universe cannot come into existence on its own.its just the same thing as we know that a shoe is made by a shoe-maker and a house by a constructor(mason).
if u have faith in the almighty god only then u would have faith in urself .having faith in the divine power to me is a key to sucess coz then u look upto the god even for ur petty things.if u abide by the divine rules and regulations only then u would have a peaceful and calm after life.so believe it or not HE is there and is controlling each and everything.

To allow yourself to believe in anything for which this is scant evidence, and much evidence in refutation, weakens your mental function.
To believe in things that are not true causes you to make inaccurate choices in life: to make unwise and wrong decision.
I have had many discussions with theists, questioning the evidence for their claims as to the existence of god.
It has always, ALWAYS, finally come down to "You have to take it on faith."
Well, 'taking in on faith' is to say that you are going to choose to believe in a thing for which you do not have evidence.
If we all thought like that, the Earth would still be flat;
sneezing would still make you prone to demon possession;
the Earth would be the center of the universe;
the earth would be a four cornered object on pillars with a domed sky full of holes through which the stars would shine at night;
we wouldn't have vaccines, or airplanes, etc.
Irrational thinking inhibits optimal problem solving.
Science is the system of thinking (and truth discovering) that is based on empirical evidence and rational thinking.
That is why it is the system of thinking that continues to solve the mysteries of everything.
Since the development of the method of science, several hundred years ago, humans have made more intellectual and technological progress than during the previous ten thousand years of superstition (religion) dominated thinking.
be logical.
:-)

1. Without belief in God, there would be less motivation for man to do good.
2. Belief in God, depending on what religion, will form a relationship with man, so he/she will have expectation of the future.
3. God directly gives us several responsibilities in this world, which non-believers would fail to recognize, so religion is important.

well, it is a benefit to believe in God in your own way. Many people believe in God the way they are told to. They don't ponder any other way than what they are told. When you actually "know" god in your own way, you will be more at peace with yourself. I would not suggest going to any church for this. I would suggest going to your heart and soul for this. Having the knowledge inside of you that there is God lets you know that life is not just something to go through, but something to learn and grow through. Sometimes it will be hard, but whatever god/s you believe in, god will not give you more in a life challenge than you can handle. It may feel that way at the time, but if it wasn't a challenge, what would we learn and how would we progress? That is my personal benefit to believing in God. many people believe that you have to be a christian or a muslim to believe in God, but that is far from the truth anyone would find if they actually stopped and asked God with thier hearts, and not thier minds. happy hunting :-)

The Ocean of Tao
Cannot be called an ocean
For there is nothing else to give it name.
There is no sky above it,
No earth below it,
No shore that surrounds it.
And so it "is".
And yet, "it" is not.
For what is "it" if there is nothing else?
And so there is only "one".
And yet, there is not.
For "one" to be, there must be "two".
And there is not.
There is only entire.
And yet, there is not.
For to be entire Is to measure complete.
And can there be measure Of what has no beginning or end?
Void of name; Void of substance; Void of measure.
Such things define nothingness-
But only if such things "are".
And, since the "are" not, What is?
Everything and Nothing-
The Ocean of Tao
That can not be called an ocean,
or even Tao.
Not te believe because you will be more self content with life. And seeking no further.
