I try to enjoy life by not allowing certain situations to bring me down; such as the N. Korea, Iraq, and other political issues. I've lost many family members over the last few years and I've been trudgin' along just fine - until, I run into someone who says, "You joke around too much! You need to be more serious!". I'm a big guy! When I was younger I would have ripped the guys spinal cord out of his back, like in the first 'Preditor' movie; or slapped the taste of of his mouth, because I feel that he's disrespecting my aura. Now that I'm older I know better. I'd love to just lash out with my verbal 'Gatling Gun' - but, I don't. I'm attempting to change, into what I believe is a better person. Has anyone else ever felt like this? What do you think?

I dont believe that you are "grubby" all the time. You may have a little more serious outlook towards what happens around you and it need not create any harm to you. I think your nature is to pretend too much of seriousness on all matters and it is bad for your health. A person is said to be a perfect combination of Adult, Child & parent egos and if you are a little more on your adult ego/parent ego, its ok! But the child ego has a significant role in your life and atleast be a child for some rare moments- laugh happily, fight happily, cry happily and crave happily!!!

Who ever said laughing was bad. Laughter is supposedly the best medicine. As long as you're not laughing at other people's expense, go right ahead and enjoy life, thats what its for. I think jokers make life more interesting. It's good to hold back a bit if you're offending somebody though, but maybe they just need a tougher skin.

It isn't that being seroius is bad for the health. It's that laughter is good for the health. Try and relax a bit. Go rent some of the movies that you think are the funniest and then watch them with friends and family who think they are funny too. Then laugh. Not just a bit. Laugh untill you cry.

Being too serious and directly or indirectly affecting your health is always bad. Why you want to be too serious? Why can't you limit the same to serious only? These are all rubbish my dear. There's nothing serious about being serious, but it should be befitting to peculiar situations only and not in general.

Yes.

I am too serious and have tons of health problems.

But I guess there is nothing I can do about it, that is the way I am.

Well, they say that laughter is good for the soul. I think you have to have a healthy balance of serious and not serious.
