You've got to be kidding. That's the worst thing about immigration they come to the U.S. and can't speak our language. Are we really supposed to teach our teachers, policemen, etc. spanish. I don't think so. If they are going to come live in the U.S. the least they can do is learn English.

If you went to another to country to live, do you really believe they would bend over backwards for you? I don't think so. If you want to be a citizen of another country the first thing you should do is learn their language.

Immigrants are really pushing it when they think they should come to our country and we're supposed to learn their language. I think that is BS.

Wouldn't that be considered discrimination??? I would look into it...if you are highly qualified for the job, but didn't get it only because you don't speak Spanish..sounds like discrimination to me. Sure knowing other languages are great, but if your living in the states that shouldn't be a requirement. I just moved back to the states from Japan (lived there for 5 yrs.) I did not expect the Japanese to cater to me, did I master the language? No, but I was able to get by, what I didn't know I used/carried a Japanese/ English Dictionary around with me.
All I'm saying is if you live in the states you should at least TRY to learn English, for employers to make it mandatory to know Spanish is ridiculous. We aren't living in Honduras people, this is the USA, an English speaking country (last that I heard)

These days you can learn how to speak Spanish over the internet. Check out this online course, it's voted as the best Spanish online course of all time: http://www.rocketlearner.com/spanish The course is very easy to follow, I was able to learn Spanish in just 3 months.

I live in New York City, I wanted to go to a Spanish language teacher but that would have cost me over $800 per month. Good thing with this internet, $800 it's a lot of money for me.

I think immigrants need to learn our language, it's just common sense it will help them getting a job etc. And besides all our traffic instructions are in English. Should Americans learn Spanish? Only if they want to it should never come to the point that they have to.

People who come to a country from another country should do their best to learn the native language. This is true for people who speak Spanish and immigrate to America and for Americans who go to live in other countries.

If the immigrants want to live in a Spanish speaking country they should stay in Mexico. I mean when Americans travel to other countries to live we don't make that country (if not an English speaking one) learn English. We learn their lanuage.

Dianafedez...Yes this is a nation of immigrants. And all of them learned English. With people coming from every nation on earth to live here, we still speak English. We just celebrated our 230th "birthday" as a nation, and we still speak English. Some bits of different languages have crept into our language, but WE STILL SPEAK ENGLISH!

If millions of immigrants before have learned the language, so can Mexicans. They are poor, they are illegal, but most of them are not stupid.

Both. I'm a native English speaker, but every foreign country I've travelled in or worked in, I've made an attempt to learn the lingo, and a few things about the culture. It's fun. It works both ways. Immigrants are doing themselves a favour by learning the lingo of their adopted country, and my country, NZ, is much more interesting now than it was before a whole lot of non-Anglos started coming here. When you learn a foreign language, you learn a lot more than just a lot of grammar, syntax and vocabulary. You learn about their music, cuisine, history, you make a few friends, and if you ever visit their country as a tourist, you get much more out of the experience. We Anglos are lazy when it comes to learning about foreign languages and cultures, and it costs us. That's why our intelligence services let us down so often. Like Pearl Harbour, the fall of the Shah in 1978, 9/11, the Iraq ****-up...

Are you fricken kidding? What kind of f**king question is this?
NO, they should learn English.

Look at Bosnian immigrints...most of them speak fluent english because they know it's a necessity in order to function as a citizen in the USA. When they are in the private space of their own home, I'm sure they speak Bosnian...that's great!

NO SPANISH
