Okay, I just measured. :o) 1 cup of uncooked rice equals approximately 8 ounces, or half a pound. 1 cup of uncooked rice makes 4 - 1 cup servings of cooked rice. So, you can serve 4 adults a serving of rice each with half a pound of uncooked rice.

One cup of rice (raw) will feed 4 people and I think that is like a half pound.
