NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! You're crushing on him because you can't have him. Crushes are always one-sided and if you do not nip it in the bud now, you are in for a lot of pain and possibly the destruction of your friendship as you know it. Then again, friendships can come out the other side of experiences like these--I had the biggest crush on a guy who later became my very best guy friend when we were in high school. I told him how I felt about him, and he told me he didn't feel that way about me, he just wanted to be friends. I accepted it... and we've been friends ever since--next summer we'll have been best friends for twenty years.

If you view it just as a crush...no. That just means you like him a lot and you already stated he was your best friend. I wouldn't make that kind of move unless you are sure you really have strong lasting feelings. Best friends typically confide in each other and he may not feel he can do that on some issues if you have your own emotions interfering.

Also, don't do it just to get attention back towards yourself if he seems a bit "preoccupied" with is current dating. No jealousy allowed in best friendships. That could end up really killing the friendship. If you two are best friends, you should have some idea of feelings for each other. Keep on your toes. There will be hints if he is probing for your feelings. He may be a little cautious of threatening the friendship also by laying it out there. Sometimes in joking around, the truth will come out.

If I were in that Situation I would hold off for a few and see how things go with him and the one that he's dating... After you see how things are going you make the choice from there... I have been there and went for it and let everything out to him at the time.. My best advice is to hold off for now..

No, it might make your friendship hard to continue for him because he will not know what to tell you about her or what he is doing because it would hurt you. And or make him uncomfortable to be around you.

I would however consider asking him one day in passing if he ever felt you were girlfriend material, to sound out the waters. Based on the answer you got you could rethink your strategy
