Humans would have lived forever, right? I mean, I know the tree of knowledge and the tree of life were different, but God's punishment was to send them out of Eden without having the opportunity to eat from the tree of life, wasn't it? I remember being told that the fact that we are mortal is God's punishment for Adam and Eve's sins...
Yet this life is a test and the 'real' life is the one that awaits us after we die, when we can live together in peace with our Creator in happiness.
If Adam and Eve had been able to eat from the tree of life, wouldn't we have all been denied that reward?
So did Adam and Eve even sin? Or should we thank them for giving us the opportunity to enter the Kingdom of Heaven?

Well, it's not clear from the Scriptures what the fruit actually was, but due to subsequent artists' renditions, we believe it was an apple.
Having said that, I think it's both good and bad that Adam and Eve ate the fruit of the forbidden tree. We humans would not know sin or spiritual death and would have lived forever in paradise, however, we never would have known to just what extent God loves us all. It's a bit of a leap to hypothesize what would have happened had Adam not eaten the fruit, but I do know that had he not, we would not have seen God put himself in human form and give His life for us. We would never have the joy of free will on this earth and despite all of its violations, have the opportunity at eternal life in heaven with the acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. I believe there is value in knowing that God knows that we appreciate all of His faithfulness.
Shalom.

Obedience to the one that was the giver of their life should have been top priority.
Dozens and dozens of the same fruit trees, only the center tree was not to be touched.
HOW SIMPLE,
So the be fruitful and multiply fall upon sinful and dying man and he lost the tree of life in Gen,3:22; by no fault of his own, as innocent we are promised a SAVIOR from the temporary life back into the way it was before sin in Eden Rev.22:14;
John 3:16; God has made a way. 1Cor.15:22; Jesus John 17:3,5,24; who was there to see Eden, along with all angels Job 38:4-7; has promised eternal life restored that was lost. When all is restored the kingdom is turned over to God and his kingdom that God may be all in all as he is our life giver and we need to know that.
Adam and Ever were created Souls.
We are souls born in sin to die. Heb.9:27;
We will be resurrected souls Psm.104:29,30; Rev.20:1-6,12,13; All LOST will be made NEW. Rev.21:1-5;

It all depends on what you believe. I think that Adam and Eve might have been, well, retarded until they ate the apple. They had no concept of nudity and easily fell for Satan's rather obvious ploy. Seriously, who trusts a talking snake? Retards.
From what I've read from the book of Genesis, it seems that Adam and Eve would have died anyway even if they hadn't ate the apple (contrary to what many believe). So, if we're going to die anyway, it just seems like the right decision to do and learn as much as you can while we're here. So, they kind of done us a favor.
Also, if God is really as omnipotent as the Bible says he is, he seen all this coming. Perhaps he really intended for them to eat the apple. To imply otherwise is to say that God is not Almighty. And the Bible says he's Almighty, so go figure. Maybe he seen it all coming and decided he would just act like he didn't. Perhaps, God was intentionally moving human society in a certain direction with every seemingly illogical act in the Old Testament. He's God. Ask him.

Adding to what Ken said, isn't Eve Adam's twin sister???
How old were they? 18 years or 3 hours? Like in Bladerunner, wake up one morning and you're "20 something".
How could Adam or Eve do the "evil" act of eating of the fruit when they DIDN'T KNOW it was "wrong" or "evil" to disobey god, BEFORE consuming of the "Tree of Knowledge of GOOD a n d EVIL"???
They knew NEITHER act so could not know the repercussions god would throw on them, as they were neutral to both philosophies.
Can you blame a 3 hour old person and pin eternal damnation on them?
They should have gone back to god and asked what a talking snake was, as it was some kind of alien life form, a freak of nature.
Angels are some kind of aliens too. They're not us, and they're not gods either.
Also, seems to me that god can do good and evil as he pleases. Nice guy. Oh, but he's the toughest kid on the block so he makes the rules. I overlooked that by mistake.
It's taken the bible god 13 billion years to reign in the devil, so I wait for a stronger god that can "get the job done".

In writing the word of god the writers had to find a way to explain sin and death. It is all written so that we can make of what ever we want to justify what ever we do. Think of this. Eve had two sons but they had wives so where did they come from. Or did eve nave more children and brother screwed sister and so on and so forth. How can any person that has the ability to think ever believe any of it. Sure makes for a good fairy TAIL. Man and woman are animals. We are GMOs of what came before us.

Adam and Eve selected the wrong choice of a test. But God did not extinguish them, but to give them the opportunities to learn the fact and finally come back to God.

GODS PUNISHMENT AS YOU CALLED IT WAS A JUDGMENT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS AND MERCY.
HAD THEY BEEN ALLOWED TO EAT FROM THE TREE OF LIFE THEN THEY WOULD HAVE LIVED IN THEIR SIN FOREVER WITH OUT THE HOPE OF RECONCILIATION
HAD EVE NOT BEEN FOOLED BY THE SERPENT IN THE FIRST PLACE ALL OF US WOULD HAVE BEEN LIVING WITH "HIM" OR IN HIS PRESENCE IN THE GARDEN
BUT TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION YES THEY DID SIN AND YES IT IS A BAD THING BECAUSE OF SIN THERE IS DEATH, SICKNESS, SADNESS, ETC.... IN THE WORLD NOW AND WILL BE UNTIL JESUS RETURNS FOR HIS CHURCH

I think it was good they ate the apple, we have our lives because they did.. not thrilled about all the sin that came with it, but guess that is the way of the world.. but guess we have Satan to thank for that one.. not God..
