I know how bad smoking is for you & I'm not a doctor. How clever am I?
Why do bus drivers have cars when they know they can get the bus to wherever they are going much cheaper? Why do dentists have sugar in their coffee? Why do chefs eat in restaurants when they can cook perfectly well themselves? Why do bartenders drink when they know how stupid you look when you're drunk? I could go on but I'm sure you know many more similar questions yourself.
The answer is...They do it because believe it or not, they are human just like the rest of us.
Also, I very much doubt that MOST doctors are CHAIN smokers.

my doctors dont smoke they are very against it.
but those who do, they have a million reasons for it.
one is DEATH is always by them with people who can die and do die under their care

that's a big one

next is His CARE to make sure you don't die
that should make him smoke about 7 cigarretes if its an easy problem maybe one

following keeping His STAFF happy, not an easy task under medical emergencies, dieing humans an dkids, and someone crying over her pay being cut. Add about 7 more cigarretes to this.

should i keep on adding?
I nee d to
THEIR FAMILIES are never on time for a vacation because the guy the main guy is called always t th e hospital. The wife is mad. Tjhe kids reprimend him "dad dad dont you ever stop working " and dad? add 15 cigarretes to this one.

and when he gets to the hospital to see his surgeoned patient and finds out they are calling him to help hi m out because he just had a cardiac arrest.... SWEAT DAI:LY ...you can be assured that when he comes back out if he rescucitated the guy he will only smoke 20 cigarretes but if he didnt he may swallow the entire store of cigarrettes.

follow me?

STRESS is the one killer on doctors, its part of thier ode. THey have to deal with it. its a tough job. i know i have dealt with doctors for 43 years, my entire lifetime.
And luckily so far they have saved my life and smoked a ton , some. some didnt.

Inside knowledge? Cod liver oil reverses the effects of smoking? What nonsense.

Doctors and nurses smoke because they are human, and because they've all been thru the stresses of university and performing a very stressfull job.

My partner is a doctor and she used to smoke. It wasn't till she got pregnant that she quit. Doctors have the double whammy of their jobs being stressful mentally (the mental agility required to diagnose and prescribe, deal with ethics, deal with the pressures of physical, emotional and social effects of other people's health) and emotionally (dealing with distraught patients and families, depression, etc.).

Unfortunately smoking and drinking are often turned to as a distraction and divertion to seemingly relieve stress.

Doctors are human beings. Some smoke, drink, drive fast, eat unhealthy stuff all the time. They are just like us mere mortals.

RIght - deal with the stress.

Does anyone on this forum do what they tell others not to do? All the time? Well, we are human, weak as we are when facing temptation!

So, follow what they say (you would know what's right and what's not); but do necessarily follow what they do (again, right vs otherwise?).

It is self control or the lack of it.

With breakfast, go ahead and ingest orange juice. But throughout the rest of the day, focus on water instead of juice or soda

i know... i have seen many nurses standing outside A+E smoking... so, with their inside knowledge... is it really that bad for you, to smoke? as all the doctors do.. if you take cod liver oil and omega3 capsules before bed.... that can reduce most of the damage that smoking can do.. as it improves circulation.. ie; fatty deposits in your arteries..... and your nails start growing like mad..

"most" doctor actually don't smoke. And you know what - EVERYONE knows that it's bad for their health, so why single out doctors?
