Only if the book itself said it was true. Then it must be true, right?

Hmm, You would not believe a single book but if you read all 100 of elvis biographies you would get a good idea on what he was like, which is why the bible is made up of multiple books (gospels) which give the Christians an idea about what he was and what he did. Eg if all the books said he liked to shoot televisions and eat peanut butter and banana fried sandwiches you start to see a similar picture of him.

There is a big difference. The Bible has stood the test of time, and has proven to maintain historical accuracy. Also, there where many witnesses, not even Jesus' enemies denied his miracles, or his public ministries. Even his enemies (the Pharisees) admitted that he was sinless. If someone had written a false book about Jesus within the first couple generations after his life, it would have been well known as false. Most of the gnosticsm didn't come about until 2-300 years after Jesus' death.

if these people told the truth about Elvis's life, then it would be a true book. if you had never heard of Elvis, you wouldn't believe he was a big rock and roll star. and he starred in movies. and then he died at a young age. it's a very dramatic story. and all of that is true.
so where is the issue?

absolutely yes, all the books written about Elvis is true, because you cannot write a book about a certain person, if you don't know the facts about his entire life....
