why is that musterbation a sin according to catholic church when you are not causing or intending to cause harm to anyone.

As I just wrote in another answer, I recall being told in Philosophy class that the reason Masturbation is a sin is due to incorrect scientific information. People used to believe that each sperm, in fact, carried a tiny, tiny, fully formed baby.

To be clear. Tiny, fully formed baby, with head, legs, arms, fingers, toes, etc. Contained in each sperm.

Thus, when you orgasm without injecting your sperm into a womb, you're killing millions of tiny babies.

This has, of course, since been debunked.

But, as with all things, sometimes people are a little bit slow to catch up.

Masturbation is not only a sin in the Catholic Church but all over the Christiaan religion...

Because you can not maturbate without a "hard-on" and it takes thoughts of women/men to get you there... God says: You may not fornicate or covet (both commandments) and masturbation causes you to do both - think carefully now! "if you have only thought about it - you have sinned" Read Deuternomy (don't know exactly where!) and Exodus 20 - The actual event!

Masturbation being a form of self pleasure, it is a very selfish act. God made man and woman to be compatable sexually with each other and only each other. He did not create them to be with others of the same sex or alone. He created them to enjoy sexual relations with each other and to be enjoying these pleasures without a proper marriage mate is a selfish and unloving act on one's part. God says to be loving your neighbor and if you are putting your own selfish gratification first, you are not following his commands. Also, what kind of a selfish sexual partner will this make of you for when you DO get married, when you are constantly only thinking of yourself and what YOU can get out of sexual relations. Masturbation is self-gratifying and extremely greedy on ones part. Better you do as the apostle Paul counsels and "deaden therefore your body members"-- in other words - Learn some self control ! whats musterbation? im not familiar with that word. they do have spell check right by the box you write in ya know. anyways masturbation isnt a sin at all. i say self love for everyone! the world would be a much easier place if everyone just loved themeselves once in awhile. maybe we ouldnt be in this position in Iraq if george bush did the same.

In Islam it is a sin.
why because Islam is the best life style for human to adopt a healthy life.

If you commit this sin then you will definately loose your health and so you will not be able to marry or lead a happy and successfull life.

Thats why Islam gives the solution to it as just MARRY, this will solve the problem and will lead a happy and healthy life and wont be betrayed my your life partner.

Masturbation is often considered a sin because sex is a divine thing, and to treat it as anything else is a sin.

It's seen as falling to temptation. A waste of the sacred seaman. Though I'm not sure how they explain it for women.

The reason is the bible teaches that "one shall not drop his seed upon the ground" in other words all acts of sexual pleasure that do not result in the potential creation of a child is a sin. It can be argued taht this is also the basis of the Old Testament teaching of not touching your wife when she is hagving her period and the church's teaching against contraception and homosexuality.

Because the Catholic Church is afraid of sex. They teach that birth control is a sin. How is planning your family so you can provide better financially a sin? Isn't THAT being responsible?
