Weed is the lesser danger, in my opinion. You rarely hear of people smoking weed, getting in their car, and then killing someone, you know?

Weed is definitely better for society than alcohol. I have never heard of anyone having only smoked a doob becoming violent, racing around like a maniac, holding up a liquer store, or anything else that wreaks havoc the way that alcohol behaviors do... What exactally is so dangerous about half the population driving 15 MPH to the grocery store to buy some Ben and Jerry's and Doritos?

Weed has been a tradition since the colonial era.
After Prohibition the untouchables were in danger of being dismantled and out of work. The anti weed laws were a cooked up pot of propaganda and scare tactics designed to keep a bureaucracy from being retired. The result is what we now call the DEA,
I have never heard of anyone catching a buzz and robbing a store or fighting with their spouse.
Liver disease is not a problem, in fact the AMA has been in support of legalization, and government study for the prospect thereof for decades.
Alcohol Kills and Weed Chills..doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this one out
Great question dude...

Weed, because alcoholics can get really violent and irritating and can cause severe harm to the delicate family unit and the fragile system of society, through their violence and disruption. Weed is a natural substance that doesn't commonly result in violence, instead making the users happy due to the dopamine smoking it releases. Though both have negative effects on your health: Alcohol causes liver cancer and affects bodily organs to their detriment, while weed's long term use can result in the motor neuron skills we have being slowed down and causes the brain function to also go slower. Both are unhealthy, but weed is less harmful in these regards.

Neither are good, but I'd say weed is less of a danger to society. Pot smokers are usually a mellow lot; they are content to sit afterwards and examine the wallpaper or clean out the refrigerator.
Alcohol, on the other hand, usually makes people stupid, violent, and dangerous. They get the liquid courage in them and think that they're ok to drive and other idiotic things.

alcohol is way more dangerous----in the year 2000 in oregon there were 5,700 crashes with 132 deaths and 1600 people injured from alcohol...costs--$1.1 million in monetary costs, $2.5 million in quality of life losses.
I can find no information on death by weed alone. so why is alcohol legal and pot isn't, it's all about the big companies and politics. stoner bars would be safer for sure...

this is a little like shark bites and bee stings. . more people get stung by bees, but that's partly cause most people live near where bees are. .
if everyone went swimming in the ocean regularly, then shark attacks would be more common than bee stings, very likely. .
I think alcohol is a bigger problem (taking innocent lives through drunk driving, ruined lives (alcoholism), etc.), than weed. .
but that's mostly cause so many more people drink alcohol than smoke weed. .
if more people smoked weed, it might be a bigger problem in society. . .

Seems as though both are mind modifiers.. has something to do with the new designation for driving under the influence.. It used to apply only to alcohol... so apparently there have been sufficient accidents or near accidents to cause this change to be instituted within the laws of every state.

It's comparing apples and oranges. If marijuana was legal and everyone could find a "weed shop" on practically every corner like we do for alcohol, then who is to say what the long-term social implications would be?
