i work with a hispanic man who has a there sons and a wife currently living in mexico while he works here in oregon. i am interested in what paperwork one would need to leagally bring over the rest of his family. is it possible? likely? he has not seen his family in five years and does not plan on going back to mexico for another two or three. i can't even imagine what that would be like. any information on this process or where i could find infomation would be greatly appreciated.

Curious -why did he leave his family for so long?

I would move anywhere to be with mine. Was money that important? I would live an a rag house with happiness than live in a palace unhappy (Princess Diana was not happy-tears most of her life) No fun counting your treasures with tears at all. That is not a life
Your living to work than.
Sorry-it is how I feel.

Here's exactly what you need to do:

- Get a piece of paper and a pen
- Write "Take Me Back To Mexico" on the paper (In English, so that he won't know what it says)
- Drop him off at the closest INS building holding the sign.

He needs to start the paperwork on a family visa. That will bring his whole family over, but he will still have to wait. while illegals run around demanding amnesty, LEGAL immigrants have been waiting years to see their families again.

Too bad - it would appear to me from the info that you supplied here that he is not even in the USA legally, himself. There is NO WAY that he can apply for them to come here legally, when he is not even here legally, himself. Give up on that one! He needs to return to Mexico and then apply for himself and his family through the usual, legal immigration procedures.

As long as you are doing it LEGALLY, you need to talk to a lawyer about this. Geting answers from people on this website isnt good enough.

depends on his status here (i know you said he is legal, but how is he here); if he is on a work visa, his family may come here if he files for a visa for them, but they may not be able to work, he would have to show he can take care of them himself,
but unless you know what his status is, no one can really tell you for sure how to do this..... check www.uscis.gov or contact an immigration lawyer

I suggest you contact an immgration attorney. Its very difficult to get legal if he has no status. Good luck....
