I decided to dye my hair because I was getting some gray in it. I wanted to keep it my original color. The color on the box matched it but once I dyed it the color was way darker than my original color. I have dark brown but this is pretty much black! I have very long hair so I don't want to keep cutting it until it grows out. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Hey Ive had had this problem before many times lol dark brown always turns out black.
First have a bath and soak your hair and wash with shampoo 2 to 3 times, this always immediately fades the black
For the next few days continue to wash it twice with Shampoo then 1 with conditioner.
What ever u do, DONT use shampoo and conditioners for Colour Treated Hair as this will keep the life of the colour.
Hope this helps Chick

Prell shampoo or Dawn dish detergent will make the color fade out quicker, but be sure to use a good conditioner while doing this. I had to use both before and it worked pretty good. I hope it does not come down to this, but there is this stuff called Color Fix that you can order online. Use a color remover only as a last resort though. I'm sure your color will lighten up after a while if you just keep washing it. Good luck.

thats because you are supose to get more then one bottle to make it look like the color on the box and since u got long hair that adds another bottle to that..i have long thick hair and i usually need 4 bottles to get it like the way i want it(like on the picture on the box)..dont worry ..just get the same hair dye but this time use 2-3...that should work if not go to a local hair salon and show them the color that you want ..it will cost about 70 $

That's because you dyed over your already pretty dark hair. You added more color. It makes perfect sense. Try a lighter color next time.

Leave it alone. I'm sure if you already had dark hair color and you now have a darker color, then it should be bad looking.

i've had many bad dye jobs.
wash it, maybe twice a day and the extra color will bleed out and it will blend more with your natural color. DONT use a color protector shampoo or conditioner and see a professional ASAP!

you can carefully lighten it by using sparingly a product like "Sun In"

It's a light mixture of peroxide and lemon juice. A little at a time, and comb it through completey.

Be careful
